Not sure what yr your car is, but if you get the new orings, and build them like Gord does then you should not have a problem.

Hey everyone! Been dealing with an issue with my XT8 since I built it and I am starting to pull my hair out trying to figure it out.
dgrobe2112 has been great helping out from the XT8 Facebook group but I wanted to reach out via RCTech and get some more people involved that have built this truck out. I built/rebuilt 4 other 1/8 cars over the winter (including 2 other trucks), and this one is the only problematic car.
In short, my front/rear ends are noisy. Over the last couple of days I came to the revelation that maybe the Avid kit I put in it had something to do with the noise, and it helped quite a bit after I swapped all of the gearbox bearings to stock. Even with the diff bearings still using the Avid set it was better, but not quite right. The issue seems to get worse as more stress is put on the drive train. In the videos I just have some wheels mounted and it's sitting on a car stand. It gets worse when its on the ground.
With that said, it is still sounding like there is a mesh issue, but even when I shim in/out in every configuration I am still getting noise. I even swapped out the entire rear end (gear box, diff etc....) to no avail. In the link below are videos of what I am talking about. If someone can give me a solution to this, I may literally pay you. The only thing I got left is shimming the pinion, and I am still trying to figure out if I have a shim that will fit it properly (I gave up on digging through my shims before I got that far last night), outside of that I am tapped out.
First Video is of the front end after bearing swap (Diff and gearbox bearings)
Second Video is prior to the bearing swap (still had avid bearings in gearbox and on diff)

After these videos, I swapped all of the bearings in the truck to stock, the diffs are shimmed with a very small amount of play. Again, not nearly as bad, but its still there.

the noise i hear in that video is the spur and pinion mostly. when you let off the gas, the the opposite side of the spur and pinion are running together.. which is why you hear that higher pitch noise.. in the rear end i could hear a little clacking from mesh.. but that was it.. message me on facebook.. i will be at the track tonight.. and i will do a video of what my truck sounds like.

also.. just to note.. the gears need to mesh together.. changing one and not the other.. will have noise.. i put a new pinion in my truck last weekend.. and it was a little noisier at first but after a few runs.. it went away.. but i still have that slight off throttle sound i hear in your truck.. but that is not from the front or rear diff.. thats from the pinion and spur..
another way to tell its not the front and rear.. if you go down the track high speed.. slam on the brakes and hear the famous AE gear jump.. then you are not meshed correctly..

Thanks Daniel! I have a race next weekend and the entire drive train seems smooth outside of the noise. I am just going to run it and see how it plays out. I know my mesh is good, but the truck is so new and until about a week ago there was over a foot of snow on the ground, so bench testing is all I have had to go on. I was expecting it to be similar to my XB in terms of sound, but it is what it is at this point. Ill try the breaks test and make sure it doesn't skip too.

Body
Are there any bodies on the market that will fit the XT8, I am not a fan of the Xray body from RCAmerica, I was running the Proline HB D8T Tessman body but it does not appear to be available anymore, any suggestions would be appreciated
