Default how many head shims

hi ..hope this right place for this

i have an ansmann .28 with os8 plug and 20%, jp2 pipe, if i remember correctly when i first got the engine it had 3 shims on, may have been used at a higher nitro % so how many shims would i use after installing a new piston and sleeve n running it in ..ive been doin the running in with 3 seems ok just seems to have loosened up alot..thanx in advance

I'm not an expert but in my experience it's usually best to stick to however many the engine came with. There's usually a reason for the number of shims put in from the factory.

yeah i thought that, but as the ansmann28 has the same internals as the force 28 which comes with 2 standard i thought the arne would be the same ..ill leave it in

No, posts about engines & engine parts/accessories should be in the engine sub forum section at the top of the nitro offroad section.

Stick with what the factory made the engine with & you should be right.

yeah thanx ozzii.i see it now..ill direct all further engine questions there in future, have stayed with 3 shims..seems ok
