Hello TrickyMick,

These are the option B Blocks that has the hole either 1.4mm or 2.4mm higher than the original B Block.

Cheers..

Expanding on this a little further, this is a similar to the MP9's TKi4 front-end upgrade over the TKi3; the B-block raised 2mm.

Although we could change the kick-up angle using the A-mount to 9 degrees, I wonder what effect reducing the kick-up angle from the B-mount would achieve High and Low Roll center tuning options on the front-end perhaps?

Also what +1.4mm and +2.8mm represents in actual degree figures or the 'dots' system.

You could also maintain the kick-up angle by raising the the A-mount the same amount and change to a higher roll center only.

Possibly a useful tuning option on a super smooth high bite track or something like astroturf.

Notes from the D817 designer, Torrance Deguzman:
  • The team drivers gravitated toward the optional long chassis for the D815, which gave the car more stability. The long chassis is now standard on the D817.
  • The chassis outer shape has been revised, it is now symmetrical left-to-right.
  • The steel rear skid plate has been removed for lighter weight.
  • A revised D-Mount works in conjunction with the new chassis, and has added material at the bottom for longer wear.
  • 3.0o toe-in is the standard D-mount in the kit, and optional D-mounts now come in finer 0.25o increments (2.75o, 3.00o, 3.25o, 3.50o).
  • The rear hub geometry has evolved to allow a lower axle height and the camber link location hole pattern to be shifted higher and allows for a longer rear link. The settings that worked on the D815 car can still be replicated but we’ve removed the unused settings and added new ones. This rear hub is the same standard hub that comes on the E817.
  • The D817 is equipped with universal drive shafts for improved bumpy track performance and for ease of maintenance. The CVA shafts from the D815 are still compatible with the D817.
  • New body mounts that are made of tougher material are included. (Same as the E817)
  • Virtually all of the tuning parts available for the D815 are still compatible with the D817.

Pin most likely will be at a flatter angle, I'm guessing a bit more agressive on the front end.....

I suspect you mean hinge pin being flatter... ?

As per my previous post, how would that change be different to changing the A-mount to use 3 dot UP (which is 9 degrees kick-up) with the stock B-mount for example, which also translates to flatter hinge angle

In other words, raising the B-mount versus lowering the A-mount.

Hello TRiN,

If You raise the "B' block point, You will always raising the Roll Center. It will be good to take away the edginess in a high bite track.

I was informed that these blocks are more intended for the Truggy.. But for sure it will be applicable for the Buggy as well.

I am not sure about the "numbers" stated on the Item Name, but I would guess that would be the position relative to the original location.

In some situation raising "B" block position is necessary to alter the Roll Center position.

Cheers..

Hello TRiN and 1evo RRR Driver,

I am sure that the location of the Hinge Pins Front And Rear are the same as in the D815. I mean the difference is only in the "D" Block, but the location of the insert is the same so D817 has the same geometry as the D815 on the Inside Hinge Pin Location.

If You are changing the insert on the "A' Block then You are only changing the Roll Center slightly. By changing the "B" Block then You could achieve more prominent difference, going to higher Roll Center.

Cheers..

Raced my 817 for the first time this weekend. Car drives AMAZING. Would have liked to try a couple things on the ultra hooked up sugared track but didn't have time between races.

HB says they are shipping, but I don't see the buggy popping up on any US sites yet.

Default D817 US Date

I know. I saw in UK, but not even "coming soon" pre-orders for US. Common, we need our D817!!
