Reason I'm asking is I'm trying to make my shocks as dead as possible. I feel when using bladders, there is usually some very little rebound.

With the D815 / 17 style bladders i never get rebound. Try screwing the cap all the way down with the shaft all the way up. Then install the little screw in the cap.

They were dead. like dead. All week long, not even a tiny bit of rebound. They seemed to stay more consistent. I have the 17 now, but have not tried it on there. Both standard bellows and cutting the top work well.

Currently using the short carbon tower and truggy front shocks and the rear end felt like it had so much rear traction.
Was using 5 5 2 for diff set up, and tried 5 3 2, car felt great with good off power steering for a small technical track.

If you haven't tried CVDs on the D817 yet and run on lower traction surfaces, try them. The amount of traction the car has with CVDs makes the extra maintenence worth it.

I was trying something different, I had Mugen universals at the front and CVDs at the rear and the rear end was planted with 5 4 3 diff setup.

Was the upper outer or inner hole removed from the D815 front shock tower to make the D817 tower?

I stand corrected I compared the 2 and the new tower is smaller as the outer hole is indeed gone.
