That explains a lot. I tried the Protek 170s and had terrible results.

Mine have been pretty good.. The center gear pin tends to break on the 170s and creates a centering issue..The T servos I believe are a bigger pin, same gears for sure minus the one pin change.

I emailed A Main and they took care if it..Hopefully they will change it to the bigger one.

Compare Highest servo spec, with Protek and Reedy spec.
You'll see Highest and Reedy have two models that correspond with speed/torque, then the Protek has a model which corresponds with that same speed, but lists a completely different torque rating.

The reason the torque value of the Protek is different is because they are using a number they came up with themselves.

Funny... taking a look which servos that could be I see several brand models. I see most Savox models, but also a JR and I believe a Thundertiger/Associated.

So to me it looks like K-power is no servo factory.....

I suspect that the heat in Spain and a long final what caused the problem for Battle and Ronnefalk.

I wonder if either of them have the balls to post what the actual issue was ... we all guess the motor failed by becoming too hot.

The brand is damaged by the double failure especially in such a high profile event.

I had used Highest before.

The specs is good. To good to be true.

The servo doesnt go with LIPO battery as the amp and volt stays high after 30 mins and it literally overheats it with hot engine and hot weather..........

but it is not broken. After it cools down....it is working again. Some thermal / electronics shutdown to keep the servo safe.....

But in a cold weather condition. It will have no problem.

In Asia, we used life or Li Ion like receiver battery and stay away from Lipo.....it didnt create problems to Highest but many reputated brands too were hit bad. Weather seems extremely hot nowadays..............we ought to be careful now with the equipment we are running now.......

just my opinion.......

Thumbs up

Thanks Danny, that makes sense.

I don't think there are any pictures of what batteries they were using and you could be right with LiPo.

I don't like Li-ion as the cells are spot welded and can fail even when the battery is padded. They may work well in a Tesla, but not an 1/8th buggy

We use LRP LiFe

I didn't mean they produced only bad servos, the majority might be good.

Off-topic here but Protek is a brand I wouldn't run, ever. K-power doesn't look something I would run, might be running one servo made there without acknowledging it, tough.

And a very substantiated opinion. Spain is really hot this time of the year, 40ºC aren't unheard of. Technically speaking, a HV servo means the motor configuration and motor drivers are suitable to be run with higher voltages, high voltage in a motor that produces the same work as a more powerful motor running SV(standard voltage) means it's more efficient, as amps draw will be less (for the same work) and so heat. Futaba/Hitec/KO do this AFAIK.
