What is about 120 euro a year? It is nothing.

sure its money...but if people pay 80€ for a Set of AKA Truggy tires the 120€ to drive on a racetrack owned by a club is not much.
Many of that people who complain about the 120€/year for Club fee dont lost a word about the 360€ OS speed engine..the 110€ OS pipe..or the 100€ Servo...
but for what they pay that ? If there are no more tracks left to use his expensive toys

That's not nothing to me. That's almost three gallons of fuel. Or course it's nothing to people who accept the regular overbloated costs of racing. I can buy a mini quad for that money and go do what I want, where I want, and when I want..
I actually think it costs more. Most clubs want you to pay a €100 starting fee(which is, needless to say, utterly retarded..), plus I think it's more like €20 a month, if not more. But it's also the principle. I'm not paying every month for something I can't use every month.
If they had astroturf I might feel differently, as you'd be able to run your gear a lot more. Dirt tracks without a roof in northern Europe are stupid IMO. Heavy rainstorm on Friday and forget the whole weekend sometimes. And I'm not buying a mobile home either to travel back and forth across the country to attend races from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.
And no I'm not somebody who would ever in a million years pay more than €250 for an engine, let alone €100 on a pipe. Or €80 for a set of truggy tires. But then that explains why I've blown off racing.. And not just me from the sound of it..

People acting like you destroyed so many tracks here in germany..just complain..too expensive to get into a club because u cant drive 24/7 ..but its germany so clubs are the best way to maintain our offroad tracks..
IF someone open a professional track..like in USA you would complain that he will charge 25€/day...like its at the inddor track in PAdua/Italy
driving in a club isnt a costly thing..its about 10€/Month..ans some hours of ur manpower for maintance..
Nobdy is forced to buy the newest stuff..it wont make u faster anyway..so why complain about the RC companies because they want to earn money in this very small hobby?
Compared to other motorsports..or even other RC Hobby this is not expensive..you could have fun at parking lots..or some club races
for me the main prob in this hobby is the youth.. i have a 15yrs old son..sometimes he comes to races with me..but i have to wrench his buggy..just because he ist fast with PS4 or his smartfone..its hard to get new people into this hobby..
Wehen i was young RC cars where High-Tech..so when i grwon up and earn my own money i fullfilled my young boy dream and bought my first RC car..
today the kids have other dreams.

From my point of view people like you are the problem. People like you who think all this time and money spent racing toy cars should be the norm. Who make it out to be some kind of ultra-serious professional type sport or something, instead of a hobby for fun.
As I've said before, I fully recognize you don't NEED all the newest stuff. But over the years you're CONSTANTLY surrounded by it, and there is a kind of pressure there whether you like it or not. It's an irritant. I have thick skin and have never bought a Speed for ex. But it's annoying that the prevailing culture is that you have to have one. And a spare kit under the table for parts. And twelve sets of tires. And the highest high-end radio and servos, and all the rest. I was racing 40mhz years after nobody else was, and cheap engines, which never flamed out and had more than enough power. I've swam against the stream enough. But eventually it's just an annoying atmosphere feeling like you're constantly behind the curve of whatever's NEW NEW NEW. Or HIGH HIGH end.. Or that the only point in participating is to "win".

I like to buy the good stuff for a couple of reasons but I also like to save money. I have quality stuff because when I lose, I don't want to be able to blame it on having inferior equipment. I also don't buy the newest kit or whatever just because it is out. I am still running my XB4 '15 for that reason. I bought the MBX-7R when it came out because I was getting back into the hobby. This past Sunday, I got beat by a guy running an MBX-7, not the R. Why? Because he was better than me, plain and simple. However, I got faster every qualifier and I made it through the 20 minute main without flaming out and with a better lap average than in the qualifiers. I made progress! And that made me happy! I will probably buy the MBX-8 when it comes out, simply because this car will have 2 seasons on it by that point and it will be more cost effective than replacing all of the worn out parts again. I have off the shelf motors and pipes that were around $250 each and are plenty competitive. When you have good stuff, it leaves it in the tuner/drivers hands. That is how I prefer it.
I also have a complete set of hudy tools. I don't strip screws! Who do you think my buddy comes to when he strips a screw? Me, and 9/10 times I can get it out with my hudy drivers.

RC and/or racing is as affordable as you want to make it. There's so many options right now for electronics, you can get killer deals on used cars.. I think what most people don't invest enough in is track time! You can't buy the experience of track time, and you can't buy the comfortable feeling between you and your vehicle when on the stand you'll have after putting in hundreds, if not thousands of laps.

I'm 34 and did my first off-road RC race I must've been 9 or 10? I was hooked. I showed up with my stock 2wd buggy as the youngest kid on the track and won or got top 3 all season while all the old men flew Round me with their $1,000 kits only to crash meanwhile I past them all slowly and won lol. They would be in the pits wrenching like crazy on their brushed motors and nicad batteries while I had no damn idea what to do but clean off my tires and body and charge my battery lol. My dad didn't support the hobby he wanted to be at the lake so I picked up other competitive outlets and ended up racing bicycles professionally. Snobbery and assholes exist in every sport. I was an elite triathlete also. I don't give a damn what hobby you choose. Type A people are going to push the limits however they we can. That's why you race for time and trophies 😜 It's your responsibility to figure out why you do it. I didn't touch an RC anything since around age 12 when I had a nitro inferno until maybe 5 years ago I got the itch again and got a losi nitro 2.0 and started racing and loved it. I'm type A and spent tons of money and time in the garage and staying up late and having RC consume me. And I had fun and enjoyed it! Then I realized oh yea I'm single and want some action and spending all weekend covered in dust at some hole in the wall field with a bunch of smelly men is not going to get me laid. So I quit! And had fun with women and Travelling! Now I have a good girlfriend and guess what! Just bought a MP9 tki4 and mp9e. I just wanted to race again!!! This is an interesting thread. Honestly that first race I did over 25 years ago was pretty much the same as it is now. Old dudes totally geeking out on their gear and here I come the newbie not knowing $hit and tore their asses up. That's fun!

One of my racing highlights was showing up once with a used RC8B I'd bought - this was years after it'd been discontinued in favor of the RC8.2.. - and having to run around and scramble for a pit guy. I found somebody in the pits who seemed nice enough. He was, but he also had the typical surgical wrenching station, spare kit under the table, set-up stand, box full of tires, high end everything, latest Mugen with mods, and all the rest. Anyway, later in the weekend I had to scramble to find him again to pit for me in the semis, and he was like "what, you made it to the semi?".. I didn't even know what oils were in the diffs or shocks. It just felt good. Same with the cheap Go 3-port..

More like €10. I'd never pay €20. Or frankly be able to manage more than six days a year anyway. Just driving too, not to mention work...

I wonder about the future of this a lot.
Companies folding up closing their doors or just dropping out of nitro like Reedy and Thundertiger.
I live in an area where the cost of living is kinda high and I’m pretty much the only one who runs nitro here. I have 19 cars, all nitro.
So everybody around me runs either the 5th scale gas or the little Traxxas electric thingys. I often hear these people say something like “nitro’s dead” or “nitro’s dying a slow death” od “nitro sucks” or whatever but it’s always along that mentality.
So I look for myself and it looks to me like nitro’s bigger than ever: new engines, new kits, all kinds of other new nitro stuff and it looks to me like, worldwide, nitro’s bigger than ever.
I consider the source, people are just generally lazy. At least around here anyway.
The only thing that’s a real turn off for me is the companies that are so quick to discontinue stuff. That just isn’t right. You go spend a few hundred on a car, start to enjoy it and a year later, it gets discontinued? Then what? Should a person spend a few hundred more to get the latest thing hoping that won’t get discontinued too? Or have it be part of some twisted distributor drama? Seems like buying a new RC is like shooting craps.
If the sport does die out, I blame the manufacturers and the distributors for all of it. Sure, people are lazy but it’s their money and any of us will spend it to enjoy this hobby or any hobby any which way that’s available.
The think the price tag isn’t really a big deal. When someone really wants that jetski or dirtbike or even just a new guitar, how much do they spend? Some guitars go for triple my most expensive RC and I don’t even need to mention how much a dirtbike and riding gear goes for even just used.
Owning 7 OFNAs, 2 Thundertigers, a couple Reedy engines, and just recently bought a new DNX8, I can honestly say the only real bad thing about this hobby is the drama from the manufacturing/distributor side.
Companies are responsible for where this hobby goes. IMO, they really need to think of their customers first and everything else will fall into place for them, for us, and especially for newcomers.
