Ryan - I took your advise and now have a MBX5T built and a MBX5R on the way. Also based on your recommendation, I am going with a pair of plus 21-5's with either JP3's or JP2's. I tried the mugen 1005 on a P5 last year and it had more power everywhere, but it seemed to make the tuning a little more touchy resulting in a few flame outs during races. i went back to the JP2 and the tuning issues cleared up (along with the additional power ). I wanted to do two things to the both cars before the season starts 1. TTR brake disks (done) and 2. an aftermarket ackermen to help with some of the bump steer. I've seen some posts about the eck tec ackerman, but it is out of stock at the moment. Is the kingz head ackerman as good as the eck tec? or is an upgraded ackerman even recommended in your opinion? Thanks for your help.

Welcome aboard Scott!! As for the ackerman arms either the King Headz or Eck-tec will be fine, I own a couple of each. The Eck-tec is neat because it has 4 hole positions, so it allows for a little more adjustability. But like you said it's out of stock. Personally I really like dealing with Jim at King Headz, he's a real nice guy and always glad to help. I worked with him on those hinge pin brackets for the top hinge pins, and I'm supposed to be sending him pics and measurements of the ackerman with 4 holes. Carolinas has the blue ackerman in stock, but I really like King Headz black stuff, just give Jim a call and he'll hook ya up, tell him Ryan in KY sent ya!! (219)405-1024 www.kingheadz.com

?

Can anybody tell me what the min & max castor is on the MBX5R? My guess would be 17* - 22* but I need to confirm.

Using a Hudy setup system the minimum appears to be just under 20* but I don't think it's as low as the 17* you mentioned, and the max looks to be around 25* The Mugen's minimum castor(top arms pushed all the way forward to the tower) is as much as alot of 1/8 buggies maximum castor. Here lately I have been running mine completely forward, and I always keep the 2mm spacer in front of the lower arm,(minimum castor).

Thanks Ryan! I have the Hudy as well but don't really trust it for accurate castor measurements. I am working on a little project for my MBX5R and really need to have what the manufacture intended for the min & max for the upper arm only, arms all the way forward and all the way back. I will check it today with the Hudy and see what I come up with just to see if we see the same thing.

Someone had to know this info. I will post back here if I find out somewhere else.

Try standing the front shocks up ( the next outer hole on the front shock tower) also you can try less caster.

Yes, you move the front upper arms forward. Try to use 4 7 2 on the diffs, this will give you a little more turn in. It will take away a little on power steering, but not much.

Ryan,

Ok here is what I came up with. With the 2mm clip in front on the lower arm I get a range from 18* to 24*. I use the King Headz upper rear block which leaves 3mm of play total. So that comes to .5mm per 1* of castor change through the range using the clips which is the info I was looking for.

I would still like to know form Mugen or one of there drivers what the manufactures intended castor range is though. So if anybody had this info please post up.

Thanks
