☝🏼 Is right, there is very little that has carried over from the 811 to the SRX8. From what Billy Easton (the designer) say in the videos, it's 85% different.
You'd be looking to upgrade parts that would be in the last version of the 811, which was the 2.1.

Just some nitpicking that might help the OP choose the right parts; the last 811 nitro was the 2.2, 2.1 was the last electric version.

I have not. I did try the MIP ByPass and they work great on massive bumpy track. i then use the 5 hole 1.5-1.6 pistons on a smoother track.

I see there are specific ones per brand, but no serpent. Which ones did you buy?

finally got to rip the SRX8 yesterday at my local track and it was a blast. The thing is so rock solid and smooth over the bumps and handled the jumps great too.

I had just finished breaking in a new motor, Maxy's Cinco 2.0, so I wasn't going to crazy with it but I'm already in love with 1/8th Nitro buggies now.

Got to try a few changes to the buggy today. Installed mud guards, I don’t see them used to often but I’m not sure what the drawbacks would be of using them? They seemed to do well with preventing the mud from getting caked onto the rear arms and shocks.

also extended the rear shock posts out about 2.5mm. Seemed to add a little rear grip, as I was told it would help with weight transfer at the rear. It was hard to compare as the last time I was at the track the surface was much drier all around.

I also recently picked up a used Fusion X5lc by nova motor. It didn’t have as much runtime as the Maxy’s and not as much low and mid end power either. It seemed to be a tad rich so I’m sure I can pick up some more power hopefully. Should be a nice practice motor.

refreshing my shocks today, which are the 5x1.5 and 5x1.6 setup. Going to keep these for smoother faster tracks but for my local track which is pretty bumpy and lower traction I recently picked up the mip bypass pistons to build a second set of shocks. They are the 6 hole version. Any idea on what size holes I should drill them too and what oil to start with? I came across a setup that Paul from Serpent posted, front 6x1.3 500cst and rear 6x1.4 400cst. It was noted this should work on a bumpier track. Thinking of trying this setup with the bypass pistons...

A driver here in SoCal has 3x1.3 3x 1.4 clear valve 550cts for the front and 3x1.3 3x1.5 blue valve 450 cts on the rear. Springs are red front and purple rear

Red front and purple rear. That is interesting. Might have to try this this weekend. Always had the assumption of having the rear with softer springs than the front.
