Wow did I read that wrong!!! reading comprehension is a 0.0

I bought the Tekno RC clutch and spring hardware kit to see if it worked with the Serpent clutch shoes etc.

https://www.amainhobbies.com/tekno-r...kr5353/p273670

it did, springs work too as well as the clutch screw, yet it is narrower head on the pin than the Serpent

I assume the Tekno clutch shoes should work as well.

In case you still looking for Serpent shoes. AbsoluteHobbyz has them in stock

How often are you guys changing clutch bells and spurs? Mine seems a lot looser than I usually set other cars

To tighten up the mesh you want to mount the motor mounts to the chassis and then put the motor on from the top. Keep the screws a little loose and twist the clutch bell towards the spur gear and tighten it down. This is the way you can tweak the mesh a little.

Default Serpent SRX8 EVO.

Hi guys.
I'm thinking about this buggy and I've wanted to know the pros and cons.
What should I be aware of.
Hop ups?
Anything that you feel is a good thing to know, before I get one.

Hit me.

There is a thread on the SRX8 with lots of info.

Serpent SRX-8 Nitro buggy

But the car is very durable. it all really depends on the driver. Just as with any other car.

Hop-ups? Do you need them? No. The EVO has most of the latest parts already as well. Maybe extra suspension arms, sway bars, springs, shock pistons.
Other than that, replace parts as they break or get worn out, example bearings.

Sorry to say and mean no offense but this is what happens when you learn to design in a Crackerjack box.
Do you really think that engine manufacturers control tightly the tolerance between the motor mount holes and the end of the crankshaft? No because all cars have adjustable gear mesh...Well no...Not this one. If engine manufacturers had to control that tolerance tightly, the engine prices would increase.
Out of 3 motors, even by removing all threads on the part of the screws that are going threw the motor (about 5mm below the head), making the diameter of the screws smaller to give more play, 1 fits well, another fits too loose and the other, I would not even last 1 lap and the gears would strip..
We're talking 3 Novas

Plus, it make fine tuning gearing a pain, not being able to change only one component and the ratio cannot be adjusted as finely.

Sorry for the rant, and don't get me started and the small pinion gears that don't engage fully with the planetary!!!
Unless someone points me to an adjustable engine mount, I will design and make my own.

But otherwise, like the car

Are you using the serpent clutch bell? Billy made all clutch bells the same diameter for this specific issue. I haven't tried, but maybe the 811 engine mounts will work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/283445853498

Can you get me the measurement of distance between the mount holes? I can verify tonight.

Thanks, I tried a one piece mount from my 811v2 and does not fit. I'll make my own. The 2 piece mount does not work either

I've never had an issue with gear mesh and all I've ever ran in my buggy were Novas. As mentioned earlier are you using the serpent clutch bell? The bells were designed with the understanding that the motor mount doesn't move.

Also which version of the kit are you running? I know it was a running change on the evo to move the motor slightly closer to improve gear mesh but were talking only 1mm at most.

I bought the srx8 non Evo from a fellow racer. Clutch and spur are per spec and genuine serpent and correct part numbers. Like I said, most will be ok but occasionally the outside casing of an engine is not perfectly aligned with its internals and this is what happens when you have a non adjustable mesh. Thanks for the inputs guys
