REDS to O.S Question?

REDS to O.S Question?
So I currently drive a MP9 TKI 3, and I have a REDS R7 in it I love the way it feels, top end power, fuel economy and all that...Would I want to drive for REDS on the team yes!! But there a lot of guys in my area that run O.S Engines, I have had a majority of them tell me that after 2- 2.5 gallons the REDS motors start getting weird, losing tune, becoming inconsistent and stuff like that, now idk if this could be true, so far I do belive them because the guys that are telling me this have run nitro for a really good spread of time in there racing and they know a little more then me. I have the REDS R7 v2 with the new HCX carb..and I love it, I don't have to touch the tune that much...as a this past saturday went to a race really only touched it in my first run of practice and did not need to change anything on the High end or low for the rest of the day...Now what worries me is, I spent a pretty good ammount of cash on the Engine and pipe combo, and I ask myself is it worth it? So I figured why not come to R/C tech and ask..What do you guys think? If I do start taking note of the engine becoming weird and having issues I'll consider an O.S..and if I do go O.S I was looking at both of the B2101's if I can get the Tessmann edition I will if not the regular black head, a couple folks tell me the XZB Spec 2 is a longer stroke with much more power on both high and low end so that might be fitting me haha, but to those that have run O.S how do u rate your motor on the trust scale..how do you feel the engine does. Again I do love my R7 but I will want an engine that can last me a good bit and not have to deal with getting New mills before the end of the seasson. Thanks for the help guys

Yes, your mates are 100% correct. Your Reds is now pretty much useless after 2 gallons, so send me the engine and I will dispose of it for you free of charges

I ran Reds last year. My first engine was on its 5th gallon and vere still going strong with great compression when i sold it. It was abused from its 3rd tank, and i even ran it way to lean for a day, before figuing out what happend ( forgot to change car on the radio so the throttle opening was to big)....
But, several guys here have said the same this year.. I have Picco engines now ran 3 gallon going superstrong, with great compression still. I dremeled a 3tz to pices and that one is a bit dodgy, but it is timed super agressive, so i have overdone it on that one. I think their fuel is the thing that have made their engines go fast. I advice using the 25 or 30/11 fuel from Byron. The 25/9 makes you use engines in my experience.

I have ran all versions of the OS speed engine since the vz speed and I can tell you they are very reliable, consistent and without much trouble. I have not ran a Reds so I cannot compare. The spec II is a more powerfull engine than the B2101, I have had great results with both. Both engines are more than enough for a buggy, I would not run a B2101 in a truck though.

Are you saying that because of the leaner mixture thats required with less nitro %?
Or is the oil content too low in your opinion?
Any proof of this?
Personally I have not sen any difference for, 30% to 25% at 8 gallons on an engine. As long as my tune is decent, smoke/ power.
