Servo's
What is the best servo for throttle?
Not looking for something to break the bank, but a good reliable servo that won't fry the first time it gets warm. |
i use these for throttle and steering. had them for almost 12 months no problem.

I will tell you this. Purchase from which ever manufacturer has the best warranty or customer service. I spent big money on what I thought was " the best " and I am having to send it back for inspection or repairs already. They all can fail. Good luck.

That's a great point. I'm sick of high end servos failing and then having issues trying to get them fixed...
like long turn around time, that's not a warranty repair, we fixed it but it still has the same problem ugghh! What servo will last at least a year in 1/8 nitro buggy, is up to the task and has rock solid customer service when needed? |
I have been using radiopost for a while now. I use the red servo for throttle with very good success.

I think its a crap shoot if any servo will last a year but a great throttle servo that wont break the bank would be a spektrum s6040

Highest Rc
Real 12 month warranty unlike anyone else http://www.fusionxengines.com.au/ind...product_id=130 |
I am currently using SAVOX SB 2273, and it works perfect. I have been using the Radiopost servo too for more than one year heavy usage without any glitch, but I wasn't too happy with Highest RC. Both servos I had started to give me issues pretty early in the game...

Best way to tell if the spring is good.... Go wide open and kill the power to the RX. If the throttle returns to a closed position, you are good. I bought a pack of rubber bands from Office Depot. 500 for $5. replace them once every while if they look worn/ cracked. Cheap insurance. |
Back on topic.... Most name brands have at least a decent servo for use in throttle. For nitro, 200 oz/in at .10 seconds is all you need.
I have been using the same JR 9100S for a couple years. Plenty fast, plenty of torque. Even the best servo's will die quick if your EPA's are not set correctly. Don't care how fast or how much torque they have. Stress them and they will stress you and your wallet:D |
In my MBX7 I have an older Airtronics 94361 for steering and a 94360 for throttle. Both these servos are 6+ years old and have been in several 1/8 buggies I've had over the years and they keep kicking. I'm even blown away myself, they've been raced a bunch and won't die.

I use savox sb 2273 ,for 2 years never had a problem and they are bulletproof fo quality and lifespan
