Default XB8 '14 is not my car?

Hi, maybe someone else has the same problem.

I bought a new XB8 and now i'm getting slower and slower each race.
I can make changes to the setup as much as I want, but the car is just hard to
drive.

At the last practice i switched to a friends xb9'12 and was immediately 5
seconds faster a lap.

I also tried different setups from the hudy page but it's not helping at all.

has someone else a similar problem?

The next step will be to refresh my xb9 again and take it for the next races.
I was much faster with it. Maybe i'll build a mix of both cars. We'll see.

Any advices for me?

IMO the car needs to be finely tuned to drive well. If you don't get it perfect it just doesn't act right. This is what happened to me. I have a 9e and bought the xb8 as soon as it came out, converted it and just couldn't get it to drive the way I want. It's pretty much sat on the shelf since.

The 12 car was very stable and an easy drive
The 13 car loosened up a bit and and gained corner speed
The 14 car loosened up even more gained a ton of corner speed
Personally I'm am fastest with the 14 car but I had to find my own setup.
What is the car doing that you don't like?
What setup of you have on it?
What have you tried?

Post your setup and be a little more specific. What is it doing that you don't like and was isn't it doing that you need?
This car is very responsive to setup changes, we just need to know where you are with it so that we can help you get where you need to be.

Also what is your track like? What type of dirt, loose or hard pack?

Yearh, for me the XB8'14 is much easier to drive hard and fast than my XB9'12. I thought the XB8 would be harder to drive, but its so damn stable and predictable so I have stepped up in the hierarchy here in Denmark

OK here is my thought on the 13 vs 14 car.
The 13 car IMO was easier to drive but it's not as fast as the 14 for me.
so this is what I did put (tlr) 5,5,3 in the diffs also like 5,6,3 a 2.2 rear swaybar , 2.3 front ,+1mm wheel hex's in front,(tlr) 32.5 wt rear,42.5 wt front up to 80F then may go to 35./45. I currently have all the caster clips in the back but will get the 10 caster blocks when I can so it's like at 11 caster now. all the rest is box stock. this made the car easier to or more like the 13 car but faster for me than the 13.
in the end fast for one guy is not fast for the next guy you need to play with it some to get it right. and yes some times we just need to steep back and go with what works for us.

That is ridiculous! A second or so is possible, not 5. You could run a 2wd buggy against 1/8 buggy and not be 5 seconds apart on most tracks!

this is no offense nor hating to xray, i love xray products and was xb8´04 & 808 customer. really was looking forward to my xb8´14 "project" but i could not make this car handle like i wanted.

besides this, i personally think, there are some serious "construction areas" still left.
i was really surprised of hudy bringing a car that is not at 100% in my opinion.

examples:
- stock front track witdh 310
- rear 305, why?!?
- tank fuel line/clunk
- droop screws are junk, rears hardly hit the chassis.., took mbx7 ones
- body is an "overlay" part, is not 100% fit
- chassis flex screws and settings are not clear, set-up sheet and manual are different. (which screw fixed, which not, a lot of "guessing game")
- front suspesion stock really heavy (steel balls), rear is pretty light plus i have to add extra unsprung weights to make it stable.

sorry i don´t want a car with huge unsprung loads/weights to feel stable. if a car needs all this kinds of extra weight it has a real problem.

no weights on my mugen and it feels 10 x more stable and i can push it that hard it only gets faster & faster.

i wrote that feedback to xray and went back to mbx7. don´t know if they take notice of that.
what i know is, many xray drivers and national level in my area have the same feelings and issues. last race weekend i saw xb9 rear ends put in xb8´14 cars etc...

i´ve been doing this too long to play the "developers game" as a payin´customer, mbx7 feels ready and nearly 100% to me.

Moving hingepin locations around has a huge effect on cars. Then wheelbase and front upper arm position. Try moving all your hingepins to center, especially the upper front arm. Also test making both the front and rear wheelbase longer.

It's really easy to completely mess up a car as adjustable as the new Xrays. I spent years learning the art. It's hard without seeing the car in person.

I wouldn't give up yet. But race your Mugen until you get the new car sorted out.
