I don't see how these will help in off-road. Gonna make a car do crazy things in the air. We put one on a 2wd 1/10 car and the thing wouldn't get around the little wall ride on our turf track. Only works on flat ground.

If you try to pitch a car to set up for a landing it's going to freak out...

I hope that every track starts checking for these and that Spektrum AVC box, even at club races. Maybe allow it for a kids class, but that's it.

After further reading.. The is a steering priority setting which eliminates under steer. Seems as if Hpi wants it used in offroad racing.

A little more info here

1 of 2 things will happen at a club race within the next month. 1) the guy that chases you will beat you. 2)the guy that chases you will have no control over his buggy and look like a fool.

I'm not for it or against it.. If it helps a less talented person hold a line then I'm good with it lol. Now if they can make a sensor that applies brakes before they use the buggy in front of them as brakes would be even better!

They are mainly a drift assistance not traction control, so it only points the front wheels the right direction to keep you from spinning out

The Spektrum AVC version has been out for a while. I'm sure more than a couple racers have been secretly running them hidden in their radio boxes. Of course it's only a matter of time before more and cheaper alternatives come out.

As far as hurting racing, I think it will first effect mostly local club and regional races that do no tech and little-to-no enforcement of any rules. Larger races will be hit-or-miss.

I think RC leaders should take a fast approach to stomp-out and ban these things (any driver assist using accelerometers and/or gyros) before they become a virus and everyone has to have one to 'keep up'. Otherwise they'll advance to the point of multirotor control boards where you are programming them on your computer, and your stability control is just another tuning option.

I believe this stuff is banned by all racing sanctioning bodies. You think sandbaggers get it bad. Wait til these popup - it will be flat out cheating.

This is a very cool idea while also being the dumbest idea ever. It's cool for bashers who can't drive their way out of a wet paper bag, but applying it to racing is the single dumbest thing I've ever heard. Guess it's the generation we live in now, no one wants to practice to get better, they just want to toss money at it with both fists until they find the magic go-fast part.

FYI, drivers in Europe have been using them for a while, of course none will admit it (commonly called gyros).

2nd paragraph down: Gyros at Italian Job 2013
