$28.00 for Byrons race 3000 fuel?
 

Is there any brand close to Byrons that's cheaper? :(:cry:

I have two HobbyTown USA's near me... exactly one hour apart from each other.

For Byrons 3000:
One HobbyTown USA charges $31/gal + 10% Tax
Other HobbyTown USA charges $24/gal + 7.5% Tax

You might try looking online for fuel. If you find some place that sells fuel in bulk discount quantities of quarts, there is generally no hazmat fees applied since they're quarts and not gallons.

I pay $28 for Race 3000 and my LHS.

Seems like every year they are jacking up the price at my local hobby shop "support your local hobby shop my ass". I am honestly thinking about making the swap over to running flashlights next year if they keep jacking up the price of nitro. Lipo batts. are becoming less expensive. Yeah 10min. races suck but when the time comes that you can't buy good nitro for $30 and under i'm swapping over. Paying $30+ a gallon is total BS and am understanding why more and more are making the switch. :flaming:

You Guys need to understand that us dealers have to buy fuel in large quantities from the makers. Believe it or not $25-$28 for a gallon of fuel is actually a really good price considering what we pay for it and the fact that we have to buy anywhere from $1-$3,000 to get an order. The only people pocketing a bunch of money on fuel sales is the manufacturers.

I pay $25 and that's a GOOD deal if I buy cases. LHS are $32 - $45 per gallon.. DO NOT BLAME THE FUEL COMPANIES - blame DHS. Fuel prices surged after 9/11. Then the issue with China shutting down a few plants that made the nitro. Companies have to pay huge tax and fees to ship this stuff. Those taxes and fees are strictly paid for by the racers. Heck before this, I was paying around $15 per gallon.

I worry more on the tire cost of running truggy, than fuel.

Even a case of Byrons 3000 from Amain is $110 which comes out to be $27.50/gallon... plus shipping on top of it. $28 doesn't seem that heavy.

But, for an alternative, you may want to try VP fuel.

This is 100% on the money.

If you do the math it works out to be about $6 per hour of runtime. There are not too many things in life that provide this much pleasure for $6 an hour :D

Damn, in Australia, I'm currently paying $65 for 4 litres of Neo+ 25% fuel, which is about $61USD.....

My post was just to highlight the inconsistency of pricing, from two neighboring shops running the same franchise with the same vendors. And ironically, it's the smaller shop that's maybe half the size and does half the business, that is the one 20%+ cheaper. Go figure.



Even if you accrue a $300 engine with a UoL at 6 gallons, plus filters, plugs, clutch shoes, bearings, etc, it still works out to between $25-30/per hour of funtime, errr, runtime. :)...which isn't too bad.
