Default suspension arm slop?

My mugen instructions say to put 2mm of spacers on the front upper arm hinge pin, but that gives me alot of fore/aft play in the upper arm. If i add 2 more 1mm spacers on each side of the arm, the arm binds to the point you can pull up on it and it will stay wherever you put it. now i found that putting a 2mm spacer on one side and a 1.4mm spacer on the other removes most of the slop, maybe about 0.2-0.5mm left. Is this okay? Or should there be any slop at all?? Its on a mugen truggy. Thanks in advance for your input

No slop and free moving is best. A bit of slop in not really noticeable but I like to have full confidence in my vehicle, stuff like that bugs me so I take time to nail it. I use .010 shims which would be .254mm. If you do that you will need to keep the car uber clean, dirt can jam that right up and it will get sticky defeating the purpose.
