Default Xray XT9/XT8 weak rear hub carrier fix

So 2 weeks ago I bought a xray XT9 and loved it until I raced it for the first time and broke a rear hub carrier while leading the class. So for all you people who have or have had the same problem as me heres a fix to XRAY'S poorly designed rear hub carriers.

PARTS NEEDED
•mugen seiki mbx6t rear arms
•mugen mbx6t cvds
•mugen mbx6t 17mm hub

So what you do is take all of these parts and replace the original XRAY parts with the mugen parts with almost no change in handling or cornering.

Are you making this up? There's no issue with the design of the rear hubs nor will you find any documentation of their being an issue or design flaw with them. I ran the XT8 for 3 years and changed the rear hubs once only because they had 2 years of racing on them and I was freshening everything up.
Xray does make aluminum hubs for it as well, may want to try them.

I've broken a few of them
But I wouldn't replace them with mugen arms and hubs.

All you need is a set of mugen mbx5 aluminium hubs or kyosho strr aluminum hubs and some 8mm shims

If you are breaking them the easiest solution is to change the outer hinge pin for a thicker 3.5mm one from the durango or serpent.
The only reason they break is because the pin bends. When the pin bends it forces out the plastic. Just drill the holes out to fit the bigger pin. After doing that I never broke another hub

If your going to all the effort of using all the mugen parts your better off running the xb9 hub and axle with the team Durango driveshaft. That's what I run

Photos show what happened after a bearing failure to the xray hubs, second photo shows my fix, HB D8 rear hub carrier. Uses stock shafts, bearings etc. The only things I needed to do were shim the cvd's against the inner bearing, slightly larger spacer on the outer hinge pin rear (also taken off my D8) and narrower pivot ball in the camber link (also off the D8)

why the D8? well I was in the middle of a 3 day event, got hit hard, bearing failed, reamed out plastic hub carrier, had no spare hub carrier, so tried my luck with a spare D8 i had at home, worked. The geometry changes no more than a couple of mm, and now I have more durable alloy hubs. I was not a fan of the plastic version, even if it does flex more.

Thanks man I think I'm gona use the serpent parts
The only reason I tried this is because I have a mugen truck to and every time I drove the xray I broke a carrier, one thing that it did help was turning it turn just like a mugen with these parts on it.
