traxxas jato help.
i guess this might be a dumb question. but I cant get my jato to start all of the sudden. I shredded a spur gear when I had it running awesome went down to the lhs to get gear grease and a new gear. he said pull the heat head off and clean it out so I did with some nitro fuel. drained it all ect. out it together and now I can only get it to fire up quick and then it stalls. the head is on tight and good. I tried resetting needles to factory and going from there and I didn't get anywere before my glow ignitor died lol. I did switch fuels from 30 to 20 percent because 20 is what it was broken in at. knowing id have to tune it some more I still got nothing. any help would be greatly appreciated.

All it really could be is your carb
Well it just ran fine before new fuel so idk if its a tune the hsn woldntbhave anything to do with it would it
Update it idles with glowplug in as soon as I take it off it dies
20% fuel requires a leaner tune, factory settings are pig rich.
sounds like a glow plug problem
Could it be a plug? I didn't lean my hsn because it shouldn't effect the starting ability. I did lean my lsn a bit I got it to start but dies when i take plug lighter out

Your WAY fat up top! LSN should be flush with the carb horn. Idle gap should be .08mm and your HSN should be somewhere around 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 open to start with 20% nitro. Tune from there. |
I appreciate the help. now .08 is that about the width of a paper clip

sounds like your running really rich either that or you have a junk plug
new plug and leaner setting fired right up but my dam spur gears keep melting on the clutch bell I greased it and everything why is this happening I shouldn't have tp shell out 30 bucks for a metal one. if anyone has one tho ill buy it lol
There is no reason to grease anything on the spur. You gear could be melting cause the slipper is set to loose. That or you have assembled the spur and slipper incorrectly .
its cranked down pretty good. it felt harder to turn the spur in reverse than it normally does. and when I tried to start it the wheels would jump sometimes witch is normal. the clutch bell is getting hot
