What is the difference between a Mugen MBX5T and MBX5, And is there races in SoCal ?

I am considering buying a Mugen MBX5 Buggy, but I am surprised that a 4 wheel drive buggy isn't
actually a truggy? What is the difference, and are their tracks that still have races for a nitro MBX5
in Southern California?

Thanks

The mbx5 is fairly dated as far as design goes, but they can take a beating!! The differences between buggy and truggy are the length, width, internal gearing, wheels/tires, and bodies.

Oh, and price of bodies, wheels/tires

there are tracks in:

Riverside
Beaumont
Banning
Valencia
Chino
Palmdale
Santa Barbra
Camarillo
Hesperia
Hemet
Palm Desert

just to name a few

Can Buggies race in the Truggy class since they are smaller?

I never found a track in Riverside. Anybody know the name
of the track?

No, they race in different classes. Buggys are generally faster, truggies are generally easier to handle.

I have, but finding out details about the different classes available has been difficult. Most local
tracks seem to have very small or no web sites at all. Some have a single page with a phone
number, or only a Facebook page.

Most information seems to be only about electric motor races.

For example, Do most indoor tracks allow nitro?

Hey bill pm if you need a Truggy.....I have an mbx5t that I can ship you with everything installed except a receiver and transponder. Truck is in great condition with a Bce chassis and full ceramic bearing upgrades. It has an EBMods .23 motor which rips. I can leave in transponder if you were to want it. Truck was built and raced for motorama in a pinch 2 years ago as I awaited the new serpent truck. It has been collecting dust ever since. Email me if Interested [email protected]

no indoor tracks in Cali allow nitro

the track in Riverside is at the Milestone MX park, or at least it used to be havent been there in a while

you should try to make out to one of these races

Thank Imaxx21, you have been very helpful.

Milestone is just a few miles from my house, but unfortunately they recently closed the r/c track.

The Jimmy Babcock Racing League is a good idea.

vince7870:
I have been looking at buying un-assembled kits. But I need a truggy with a wide
variety of differential and engine gear ratios commercially available, and that will
be the determining factor.
