Door screen + shoe goo = one tough body

Not sure if everyone else does this. But shoe goo and window screen makes one indestructible body! I put a layer of shoe goo down first, lay the screen on top, with another layer of shoe goo. Let it dry and almost guarantee that section will not tear!

Sounds like an indestructible 3 pound lid :D

Bigwave 01-14-2013 11:49 PM

Exactly! Strong as all heck, but heavier and heavier as you goop.

I seriously doubt you'll lose any place in the main with the extra shoe goo

I do the same thing, but use dry wall mud tape and shoe goo.

Used screen mesh over the cooling hole on my old buggy to stop debris getting in but still let airflow through, it works well.

Used the same idea with dry wall fiber tape for the last 10 years to repair bodys, works great and way over cheaper than car window screen, and as we don't get shoe goo here, just contact transparent glue that does the job same.

You can also use fiberglass cloth you get at the auto parts store. A lot more pliable than screen...and stronger.

For you wieght weenies there is always carbon fiber cloth.

This looks like it would be much stronger then drywall tape. As the squares are very small.

Drywall tape works good but will break.

The door screen is very cheap. A huge roll for around $10. Will last for ever.

Not the paper drywall tape, its the fiberglass mesh drywall tape which is extremely strong.

+1, you can't tear the fiberglass stuff via hand. It's quite strong.
