What to use to soften tires.

As it gets colder we can still race offroad here in the southeast. What is the best product to soften your buggy tires or what is the best way to soften your buggy tires? I race on hard packed clay that will groove and have light dust but will get pretty cold.

Anyone?

The most common products used to keep tire compounds soft is Simple Green and/or WD-40. You'll notice it more if you clean your tires after race night, spray them down lightly and store them in a bag or air tight container. There are actual tire additives that many use...Sticky Kicks is one. There are numerous other traction compound products mostly used by carpet racers that also work well.

Sticky kicks works good on AKA rubber. I've found that its almost impossible to soften the harder rubber compounds thou. I use sticky kicks verde on my indoor 2whl buggy tires when I want more bite

Brake cleaner will also work in a pinch.

Are they already mounted? If not, submerge them in deisel fuel for ten min, then wash with simple green. It turns hard tires into supersofts!

Go-Jo hand cleaner works too.

Almost anything petroleum based will soften tires....If the tires are in a hard compound, try using bleach

Pinesol floor cleaner works as well

I once saw a guy using automotive fan belt conditioner/dressing.

+1. I use a product like this and it is great. Leaves a bit of greasy residue, but a little water will remove it and still keep them soft.

Very much against ROAR rules here in the US.

If I was the RD I would disqualify him on the spot.
