My track is getting into the stadium nitro truck never owed nor have an clue which kit would be a performer a lot of drivers are usng the AE GT2 but I don't care for AE stuff was wonder what other options would people recommend. I was think about converting a Losi 22T but there aren't any conversation kits and the gearing would be a issue.
I went to amain but there's only Ae , bandit and other traxxas related kits. Can you post other options.

thats awsome ya gunna love driven em .. i love drivin my st's over my 1/8 buggys for the fun factor . me and my bro have the ae rc10gt , mugen mst-1 and the losi xxxnt .. try ebay for a used roller of any of them . amain still stocks all the parts .. and for the mugen parts try nitro house ..... also ya might have trouble with the engine side .. not to many new .12 for st's out there .

I'm in the same boat as you BigJayJay. I wanted to have a 1/10 stadium truck to have some fun with. I searched hobby shops and not a lot of choices so I just bought a new Associated GT2 and was wondering what engine and pipe combo works well. The kit comes with a pipe...is it any good? I'm looking for a nice .12 engine. Also, bit confused over the whole rotatary versus slide carb set up.

The XXX-NT and the GT2 are both great choices. The Losi has a bit more steering and the GT2 has a bit more rear bite in my opinion. Parts are going to be mail order on both for the most part as the class hasn’t been that popular for a while. I suggest that you stock up on arms, front hubs and battery boxes as these are the high breakage items. Also, you don’t need to go crazy on the motors for either truck unless your track has a ton of grip. High HP motors are what hurt this class more than anything in my opinion. These things get difficult to drive in a hurry when you can’t get all that power to the ground. As far as the GT2 kit pipe, it’s a fine pipe for either truck.

I definitely recommend the GT2, I had a Factory Team GT, dialed in, and lots of practice, it definitely gave the XXXNT some competition.
Good truck to bash around with too.

still got my FTGT, in hopes of a class one day. Definitely fun to drive. And, I agree, no "nice" .12s needed for these. You'll have your hands full with the simplest of mills. That gold head .12 hyper above is all you need.

I think the GT2 can be set up to use either.

OK GT2 looks the best so far planning to run a cheap dynamite engine ebay 80 bucks. Wish they had more newer selections would love to convert a 22T nitro that would ne SICK

From what I've read, Rotary will be easier to install. I got an O.S. 12TG from Stormer for mine.

GT parts will be easier to get than a XXX-NT since the still make the GT2. Associated sells the FT kit for $159 and the RS RTR can be found for under $300.

22T converted would be sweet.

If i had the time I would do my own 22t conversation it would be a fun project. Been watch the trucks, I'm hoping it will make me a better driver that's one of the reason why I'm thinking about buying plus it looks fun

Rotary is the way to go on the Carb. Much more control able. Slide Carb is almost like an on/off switch from a feel stand point.
Gas truck will make you a better driver. If you can drive a over powered two wheel drive you can drive anything

I have run 2 Dynamite motors on my gas trucks. Never had a problem with either. They did release a new one a couple years ago..the MACH 2 .12. I have this currently installed in my GT2...just so you know, you will need a side-exhaust manifold as the FT GT2 kit has a rear-exhaust one
