project sc8 comming true!!!

Hey guys,
So after looking for an sc8 to trade my flux for I finally found someone to trade with in almost new condition.

So my goal is to make the baddest sc8 or one of the baddest out there. I want to find someone on here that can paint me a bada$$ body for it as well. I've already bought some stuff for it but i plan on making the whole thing carbon fiber or close too. Top plates center diff, shock towers, servo plate and ordering that nova .25

Here's the few things I have so far.

My rims

My tires
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...s-Super-Soft-2

My bumper
http://t-bone-racing.net/Short-Cours...C120-p686.html

Well there what I got so far. More updates later. Thanks all..

Ok guys so I'm need some help with engines choices.

.1 novarossi Roma .25
.2 o.s ninja .21
.3 o.s speed 21

What one will be the best for my sc8??

Herrsavage 07-31-2012 11:37 PM

Of those I would get the Nova .25. But I would also probably get an OS 25XZ over the Nova.. Read up in the Novarossi thread - lot of talk about bad bearings..

I personally would get the Alpha .23, because it's a lot cheaper and IMO would deliver similar if not more power and speed..

Your engine choice really depends on a bunch of factors: do you want to seriously race? Is there really even a class? I kind of doubt it.. Sounds more like you want a blingy SC8 that you can race.. A Speed is an awesome engine I'm sure, but it's more for guys REALLY into racing looking for an extra few seconds of run time.. The SC8 is heavier like a truggy, so you want something grunty.. For a .21, again, a Werks B5 would be the ticket..

I would also get a set of Big Bore shocks from an RC8B...

what do you want from a engine ? you seem to jump around a whole pile on what you want.....one minute a mild mannered .21, then the other minute a beefy .25...........

the SC8 runs better with a strong .21 IMO..it does not have the tire contact patch to harness a .25 or .28 ( or at least strong ones ).............if i were you I would look for a stout .21.........

I want a engine that has enough grunt to push that hog around, I looking for bottom and a smooth mid. The reason why I posted those engines is because I'm wanting to know how those engines are on the power?? The only reason why I posted the 25 is because I've been told by so many people that a 21 wont push it around??

Quick question guys, will the new sc8 2 front and rear carbon fiber shock towers fit on my sc8 without modding??

pdmustgt 08-01-2012 10:45 PM

You guys are forgetting SC8 setup for hanging the rear out drifting needs .28

Besides I've ran mine with .21 runs good but more fun with .28

Herrsavage 08-01-2012 11:03 PM

Good point.. Though I think a strong .21 will cut it.. That said, I tend to have run most of my .21's in the SC8 with the cage and body off, with lighter, buggy wheels, on pavement.. All weighted down with the cage and body and the big stock wheels, the SC8 must weigh 10lbs.+ easily... Which is why I say Alpha .23 or OS 25XZ(or 28)... By all accounts an Alpha A852 (a .21) should have the grunt though too..

Don't spend your money on a Speed. While it is one of the best engines made, it would be a waste for you. Save yourself some cash, or a lot of it in this case.

If you want something with a strong bottom end hit and is a quality motor, look at the Reedy 121VR-ST silver head, Werks B5, OS XZ-B standard blue head, and the Novarossi P5.

Each of them will easily give you the performance you need and save you some serious coin over the Speed. Not knocking the speed by any means, I have one. I just don't see a point in spending the money on one unless you're a serious racer and traveling it major events, which they don't even hold for 1/8 SC.

I have a lrp.28 in mine with 18t clutch bell. Very fast and fun

Well there it is also I think I'm going to get the nova Roma .25 or the o.s .25 I know its going to be a good 25 because I'm just to afraid that a .21 won't have to grunt to push this pig around with the cage on and body...
