I will hopefully be taking possession of my 8ight buggy kit soon. Can anyone out there recommend any upgrades/ tips I should employ while building the car?

Depends on what 8ight 2.0 you are purchasing. Either way the 8ight is a very well durable car and really doesn't need to much of an upgrade. I bought a 8ight 2.0 race roller and it practically came perfect. I would recommend doing the steering mod and buying the Gen III radio Tray. Take your time when building the car. Use the Losi Lock tight or another brand of medium strength epecially on the screws that go through the chassis.

+1 The car is perfect stock. What he said plus just learn to drive it and when you break something or master you car then worry about up grades. Gen 3 servo tray and alum. parts are nice to look at but give no real advantage over the stock plastic. But they sure do look pretty!

just buy the lunsford titanium turnbuckles, if you want to keep your setup during a race, is a must, the rest isn't necessary.

That shouldn't be a problem anymore. I had one of the early run 2.0's and my turnbuckles never changed on me.

I agree with what everyone else said, keep it as close to stock as you can. I would suggest the capped wheel nuts, the chances of a wheel coming of is greatly reduced and the keep dirt out of the end of the axles as well.

The mod is for the throttle horn - not a Steering modification.

Thanks for the replies. I am getting the TLR0804. Does anyone out there know of an online resource like youtube or magazine article that goes through a build like this? Also any servo suggestions?

Ive had real good luck with Savox Servo's good priced and never an issue other than if you get the regular servo's not the HV Servo's you will need to run a LIFE pack or NMH receiver pack.

I run the Savox 1256 for steering
And the Savox 1257 for Throttle/Brake.

With a life pack.

I run the Savox 1268 HV.... since Nov 2010 no problems.. Still going strong.
