Troubles starting.
My savage 21 is about 9 years old and probably hasn't been running in about 8 years. Just got myself some new glow plugs, ignitor, and fuel (was told the were all compatable with the truck) but have had no luck in starting it. Quite sure all factory settings are still the same as the were. It doesn't sound at all like it wants to start at all. Any ideas? Thanks.

Make sure igniter is charged...

Yep. It was charged. I've had it running before, and have re-read the manual and some forum posts with similar problems. Other posts seem to be about first start up problems.

Perhaps the engine is flooded from over-priming fuel?

I think your problem is that the engine is gummed up from leftover fuel from 8 years ago. Can you turn the motor over easily? If you cant, A: it is flooded as csb said, or B: you need to clean all the gunk out of your engine. Either way, you should disassemble your engine to check that everything is in running order, no broken or over worn parts. You could probably find some good videos on Youtube related to gunked up engines, or even on this very forum. Just clean it up and you should be good.

Forgot about the possibility of it being a gunked up engine too! Definitely take the engine apart. Check the carb and the crank bearings.

The engine seems to turn over easily. I'll clean it out, like you suggested, and double check the factory settings. Thanks.

One last thing, if it doesn't start at all after a long time cranking, tilt the truck so that the unburnt fuel in the exhaust dumps out.
