Default Mugen Athlete/Paris Picco comes alive

I wanted to share with the community my recent experience. I decided to resurrect my old Mugen Athlete and Paris Picco, after sitting in storage for nearly 20 years. After doing some reassembly of the front end, cleaned the fuel tank, replaced fuel line, filter, glow plug, completed the reassembly and it fired right up. After some tuning it was ripping up and down the block.

Good advice! I dont have any intentions of racing it on todays tracks with their monster jumps. Its funny because the bottom of the chassis had the same amount of wear as a brand new car after a 30 min A-Main!

Default Rich - lean, lean - rich

I'm chasing the proper needle balance! I thought i had it running well yesterday but today the idle was erratic and as soon as I opened the throttle it would shut off.

I will keep you guys posted! After almost 20 years out of the hobby, its all starting to come back to me!

Default Circa 1992 Mugen Athlete pics!

Check out this original body from 1992! Its still in pretty decent shape, a few cracks but none for the worse. Next up, action shots!

I was running in 1996 with a super athlete and a picco Paris, I still own the car but i have to rebuilt it, I won't run it because after so many years the plastics will break very easy!

Yes, Bruckner is still in business and supporting a local track constructed in the bronx. I grew up with the oldest son, Tom. Its great to get back into the hobby after a long hiatus in full time stock car racing!

Man there is so much nostalgia in those pictures. Its amazing even in model car racing how much things have advanced and improved. I remember when that futaba radio was the top of the line. Even seeing the hole in the body for house transponders, that seems to be a thing of the past now since personal transponders really took off.
