Default What makes Kyosho shocks so good?

What is it that makes the K shocks soo good, that its not unusual to see pro drivers from other teams fitting them to there cars?

I know the springs have that progressive feel to them, which no one else has seemingly managed to replicate, but what makes the actual shocks just that step above the rest?

IMO its just better design, they have less shaft drag, and they dont leak..Others have tried to copy and they seem to come up short of one or both..

Bore and shaft finish mostly.

the bores are smooooth, you would be surprised how rough alot of other brands shock bodies are.

The shafts actually are coated in a hard chrome as opposed to standard chroming or none at all.

the seal fit is pretty loose, contributing to the low stiction. the 3.5mm shafts help as well.

I have used serpent, xray, kyosho, AE, x2 shocks all on my xray before the xb9, and the only thing good about kyosho are the springs, blue springs to be exact. The AE shocks and serpent were best, just don't like how serpent mounts piston to shaft. Kyosho shocks first get dirty fast. AE shocks and serpent take a very long time to dirty the oil. Also once Kyosho shocks get dirty the satin coating on the inside starts to erode making the shock inconsistent to build and not as smooth.

Yeah I think there is a lot of things over rated on the kyoshos and yes had one for a while and it was good but now have the AE 8.2 which is stronger and just as good for half the price and parts are half the price as well and you dont buy as many

both me and MalcNZ have run kyosho before our AE times, the arms on the AE are just pure durability, diffs that dont require reshimming from kit form to used.
front shock tower -i've landed ontop on my front tower heaps at high speed and big jump and nothing but scratches.

Last club day: min of 5 breakages on kyosho cars(we are the only ones there with AE cars, rest are kyosho)
Us, broken chassis brace, which doesnt even get you DNF.
Mal's pretty rough with his() and that was all that broke was a chassis brace...

yeah as said front arms in particular are stronger so far in AE and half the price.
front towers that dont bend/break.
Did break a front brace which is first time I have done that but did case a jump badly.
Rear wing and wing stay that doesnt look like a dogs hind leg after 1x crash
I think you just get better value with the AE as equally as good.

I'm sure Mayfield and Cavaleiri would agree that the RC8.2 is the most durable car out there. it held up so well for them at the DNC didn't it.

I thought this was about the shocks, we all know kyosho overall is more durable than AE.

Want to make them even better? Polish the shaft with a metal polish like Mibro #6. It's sick!
