I don't think anybody ever said Tessman was "wrong" for anything.

The question is, how much credit does HB deserve? That seems a bit grey. And yeah other drivers for other brands mix and match parts too. But to quite the extent as was done here? Again, nothing against Tessman at all in just raising a little flag and asking if a D8 is a D8....

HB probably brings this kind of questioning on itself by having such an unclear product range. It has what, the D8, the CR8 is coming out whenever, and here you have pro drivers going back to past models and using Lightning parts...

This is a bizzare thread though.. People seem to be getting worked up for really no reason and talking past each other..
HB should get the credit they deserve, and should not get any backlash. It's one of the main reasons for having great team drivers. They know what they need to do.. to make the cars better. Real world design team IMO

Yeah, that's true.. The HB race team did a great job, and Tessman did a great job.. So a slight change in wording.. How much credit does a stock D8 deserve?..

I know I know.. A stupid topic.. But winter is stupid.. It's a winter thread..

Well we could always setup some sort of a manufacturers shootout race...with special rules requiring drivers to run the cars stock with only a select few alterations allowed......not sure if it would be worth the hassles.....or what purpose it would serve....but its obvious by this thread some people would like to see the cars raced as they come out of the box.......nothing wrong with that either IMO...............I Am just happy to see how honest and transparent HB is with showing exactly the car that was being run.....very classy IMO...

Team drivers are employed to win races, they are also employed to develop the product. You can only test properly when it's in a race environment. Every form of motorsport runs prototype / different options to get the most from any vehicle on a given day. This only proves how "on the ball the team is" to understand what works best where. The stuff they try / develop is the stuff that ends up on your buggy next time around. There will be track around the globe that probably require a near out of the box setup and others that don't. Of course Ty and HB won that race, by using the best setup on the day.

Exactly. Some people are arguing against a constructed point of view which nobody has fielded as an argument.

Nobody has said Tessman was wrong for anything.

It's simply the case that with Kyosho shocks and everything the car is nothing like a kit D8 and the kids that go out and buy the kit on the basis of it being a winning car, will in the end feel cheated.
Remember how they market these things.
