Mugen MBX5T compatible with 6T?
 

Anything from the 6T compatible w/ the 5T? Can a 5T be modernized to 6T status?

I believe motor mounts are and also the suspension arms up front are. I heard of guys using them over the 6T's. Do a google search, I'm sure there are more things.

They do share some parts -- probably about 10-20%. But about 80% are new parts, and not compatible.

It wouldn't be cost effective to try and update a 5T to a 6T -- you'd be much better off buying a new or finding a used 6T.

+1 I agree. IMO though the 5T is way more durable. I've never broke an a arm

Another not so cost effectove thing to do is buy the 5t bce chassis 6t shocks and hubs and body posts and bam mbx5.5t lol I always be back by 5t never broke but the 6 is one hell of a truck

I def know what you mean, my 5T has never let me down. I have one Tekno 5T with some 16mm 6T Big Bores on it that definitely helps. I also have a Nitro MBX5T.

I modified my 5T with all the 6 pieces that that i could fit.
I was able to get a 2nd hand BCE 3mm longer 5T chassis and with running the front arms all the way forward and the rear hub right back in the arms it's only 3mms shorter than a 6T

The shocks are the main item to change, I fitted 6T arms,hubs,driveshafts, 6t hexes to narrow the car 10mms, originally i shortened some 5T ones.
to run the 6 diff outdrives you need to change the inner diff bevel gears to take the bigger pin, the 6 spur gear is a lightened version of the 5Ts and I also fitted the 6 brake pads plus a 6T body.

It all made big improvements to the std 5T, most of this I did with good 2nd hand mbx6 parts before the 6T had even come out and then fitted some more 6T bits later after it was released.

Now days it's probably cheaper and easier to by a decent used 6T.

One other thing to note if you do the shocks, the steel 5t standoffs will work if you space them out with a 1.5-2mm washer, or get the lighter alloy 6T ones.

Thanks for the replies, I was looking at getting a 5 for cheap and then hoping to turn it into a 6. But it looks like that is not really a cost effective, or easy, or even possible thing to do.

It would be a killer 2nd truggy/basher though! Seems like they are bomb proof from what people are saying....
