Guys,

BETA RC is about to officially enter to my country, but i have a query.

Comparing with VP PRO compounds, how is the Beta RC (medium soft, soft and super soft) v/s VP (low flexx, medium flexx, ultra flexx) ? ... its exactly the same 1-1 comparing or softness is different ?

thanks in advance,

regards,

The beta line is actually gonna be quite a bit softer. In comparison to aka, the vp pro ultra flex (which is there softest compound) is much like a medium/soft of the aka. The beta SS compound is going to be just like the SS AKA compound. So I guess I am saying the SS beta tire will be softer than the vp pro ultra flex. The S beta compound will be comparable to the ultra flex

Actually VP Pro is releasing new compounds with their new patterns. They are introducing a new softer Ultra Flex, and the current Ultra Flex is going to be the Med. Flex, ext.

The main difference is that VP Pro uses a natural rubber, and Beta is a synthetic rubber. Beta compounds are similar to AKA or Proline.

A special thanks to Gene Hickerson and Andrew Smolnik with Hobby-Pro-USA for coming on board as a Premier Sponsor for the AMS 3.0. www.hobbyprousa.com

Gene any word on new items for the Agama?

Note for guys who are trying the new Beta Tires:
You must clean the Beta Super Soft Compound tires with Brake cleaner before gluing or they will fall off.

Currenlty from hardest to softest:
VP-Pro Low Flexx
Beta Medium Soft
VP-Pro Medium Flexx
VP-Pro Ultra Flexx
Beta Soft
Beta Super Soft

Vs. New VP-Pro Compounds coming this June:
Beta Medium Soft
VP-Pro Medium (Old Medium Flexx)
VP-Pro Soft (Old Ultra Flexx)
Beta Soft
VP-Pro Super Soft (New)
Beta Super Soft

The VP-Pro and Beta Super Soft feel like an M4 and AKA Super Soft. About the same softness but different rubber mixtures. VP-Pro has more synthetic I believe.

Clean your tires like this:

I have done it this way for the last 12+ years with no problems as long as I use good quality glue such as Hobby Pro USA's new Thin glue.

Hey Gene, how about a similar comparison of foams between VP-Pro and Beta and a guide to matching foams to tire compounds and why. I believe I read on the Beta thread about different foams offering different tire profiles (rounded vs square). On what type of track conditions would one choose a rounder vs a flatter profile? It'd be nice to have a definitive reference chart so we can properly position the two tire and foam brands now available thru Hobby Pro. And I guess we should include the wheels too, why/when one would choose Beta vs VP-Pro and vice versa. Thanks!!!

That is a long discussion :)

VP-Pro has changed their foams about 10 times and had a new one (MF-005) coming this summer that will replace all current inserts. It is the exact same as the AKA red insert except smaller to fit VP-Pro/JC/Proline size tires. I just got a sample and it feels very good.

As for Beta, the Green soft insert also fits VP tires. The dual foam does too. The yellow insert is too big for VP tires.

Generally I use a harder foam with softer compounds.
On a smooth hard packed track I like a foam that gives a flat profile. They give more forward traction and allow the car to slid in the turns.

On loamy or bumpy tracks, a rounder profile may be better. It provides more side bite. But I have very little pratice on those tracks since I have lived in FL for the last 7 years.

Soft foams - better in the bumps, more traction.
Harder foams - more corner speed, more stability in high speed turns.

Got all my tires mounted up for the PNB.
Beta Super Soft Cubez
Beta Super Soft Enforcer
Beta Super Soft V-Max
And the brand new VP-Pro Striker Evo and Turbo Trax Evo in the all new Super Soft Compound.

The Striker resembles a Blockade. The rubber feels like an M4. The new MF-005 next generation closed cell foam insert is exactly like an AKA Red, except it is smaller to fit the low profile VP-Pro tires. They feel excellent, can't wait to get them on the track Thuraday. This will be the go to VP tire for main events now.

The new Turbo Trax 2.0 Evo is an all new tire. The center pins have been removed for more forward bite like Adam Drake always does to his Proline Hole Shots. All the pins are now smaller. This will be a qualifying tire now with super corner speed.

The carcus on both new tires is both a Blade and Axman style (3 ribs plus the criss cross patter) for less ballooning with the new super soft compound. They will be at Hobby Pro USA this June. :)

x2 - I'd love to know about the new towers. Getting the shorter/wider rear tower would be huge.

Any chance Agama or VP-Pro would be interested in making some blank 17mm pistons for those of us who'd like to drill our own? http://www.redrc.net/wp-content/uplo...ockPistons.jpg

We have new shock springs and new sway bars soming with our next shipment. Nothing else new except the Truggy and ebuggy conv kit they are working on getting released.

The new Agama 8 x 1.2mm tapered shock pistons are working great for me. They have way more pack then the VP-Pro 1.2mm pistons because they are 50% thicker, so the oil has to travel 50% farther through the little holes. The same oil feels about 200cps thicker. I know the guys at the DNC were saying the wish they had 6 hole pistons, but I think they were all using the VP-Pro pistons, not the new Agama pistons that are now included with the buggy kit.
