roller vs. race roller
 

I am looking at picking up another 8ight 2.0 buggy roller. I keep on seeing people advertising their buggies as race rollers. what are the main differences between just "plain" rollers and a "race" roller? What does a race roller have that a roller doesn't have? How can people expect someone to pay $450+ for a race roller with no engine or electronics. What am I missing here?

the 2.0 race roller and roller and kit are the same...just the roller is put together. If you want a fair chance of winning races...450 is not a bad price...you wont have a chance with a rtr ofna

"Roller" and "race roller" mean the same thing, as far as I know.

According to Amain Hobbies, the kit sells for $590 brand new. I think I am as confused as you are. I am not quite sure if saving $140 would be enough for me to buy a used RC vehicle, given how much abuse they can get put through. If you had to replace drivetrain components, those savings would quickly dwindle.

I was thinking maybe a race roller included electronics or if maybe it was the kit version and not the rtr version?

HELL YEAH There is a difference

Race Roller is different to the RTR version, different chassis, different shock towers, and different shocks.

When selling RC's with no motor or electronics, they are called "Rollers" but some truggies have 2 versions from the factory, "Race Roller" or RTR. The Race Roller being the one geared towards racers. Usually sold with no motor or electronics.

When you see "Roller" on fleabay, it could mean a few things. It could be a RTR version with no motor or electronics, OR The "Race Roller" with no motor or electronics, you have to look at the Truggy to tell. This is easy with the 8ight-T 2.0 as the RTR has a red chassis, and red braces, with plastic shocks. The "Race Roller" has a black chassis, golden brounish chassis braces and alloy shocks.

You may see some "Race Rollers" sold as Rollers, or with electronics, but will still be noted as a "Race Roller" and sold for more than the RTR Version, sometimes more for the Race Roller naked then for the RTR equipped.
