Default Winterizing a motor.

Just got a nitro buggy this summer and now I'm going to put it away till spring.

What do I need to do the motor before I put away for the winter?

Thanks

There are a few methods out there. Best one I have heard so far is as follows.

Disassemble the motor. Ie: take the head off pull the P/S, leave the rod on the piston, and pull the crank from the block. No need to pull the bearings out of the block.

Once apart wipe off any left over fuel residue and what not. Flush out the block with nitro cleaner.

Then liberally coat all the internal parts with after run oil, make sure to get the bearings in the block. Once everything has ARO on it put it all in a baggy vacuum seal it.

Vacuum sealers can be found relatively cheap.

Come spring open it up. Wipe off excess and flush out the block and reassemble.

Or you can do it the easy way. Take the glow plug out and put the engine in a small coffie can, fill it up with some synthetic motor oil, put a lid on it. Done. Takes two minutes.
