Boots departs Durango??
Rumours of a possible chassis switch for Elliott Boots hit fever pitch at last weekend's Pro-Line challenge race in Slough, with Elliott conspicuously absent and mechanic dad Chris keeping a low profile. Sitting 4th in the BRCA rankings with a single win to his name perhaps not reflecting his true ability and speed and with the last round next weekend at his home track Boots attended the warm up event this weekend and ran a Kyosho/RB combo. He ended up winning although the race was affected due to heavy rain.
With his Team Durango days seeming to be over we contacted the Durango boys who confirmed Elliott's departure via resignation. Turning up with a Kyosho over the weekend adds fuel to the argument that he may well sign with the Japanese outfit who have stuggled results wise this year in the BRCA nationals with no drivers currently in the top 15. Having said that though there are other options out there, some more likely than others, a few of you will recall that 8x British Champion Dave Crompton has been pretty competitive driving RB's 'RTR' buggy, finishing 4th at last weekend's Pro-Line event; you might notice a familiar mechanic on the left in the photo.... Despite the somewhat hasty exit, Boots' performance at the Euros impressed many; qualifying in 8th as top Durango and making the Euro final for the 2nd consecutive year. Perhaps spurred on by Christoffer Svensson's comeback since returning to Kyosho mid-season expect more to be revealed at this coming weekend's final BRCA national.
Qualifying was a battle between Darren Bloomfield and Elliott Boots both 1.5 secs per lap quicker than the chasing pack.
