The Bad Thing is the plaques cost just about as much as Trophy's i put on a Big car show this year in my home town and priced Trophy's and Plaques and the cost was about the same. I had a friend Make the Wraps for the Plaques trying to save money and me and him put them on the Plaques i Made and the cost was not much cheaper then just buying Trophy's so next year we are just gone to get Trophy's.

same thing when i raced go-karts .. cheap as trophys but the best thing was at sum large club events they use to take the cash saved from cheap as trophys and buy a heap of gifts. spare parts, fuel ect ... and at the end of thos race meetings they would have a handicap race and give out the prizes. .. top 3 or so from every class would be able to be in the race plus a wild-card or 2 ... so i guess in rc it would be SC all the way up to 1/8 buggy .. they would all have a staggered timed start where the guy who won buggy would not even be alouded to start till the sc has nearly lapped him .. that kind of thing .. all in all if it was set up and planned right with the spacing and laps you would have a final lap dash with every class ... all coming around the last few corners.

you have never seen harder driving lol specially from the the fastest class comming from nearly a lap behind cos theres no pressure just balls to the wall ...

Plaques have replaced trophies so that sponsor logo's can be included. its hard enough to find event sponsors now and having their logo on the plaque for all eternity hanging in someone's room is a good motivation to get them to participate. Trophies are way cooler though!

Marcus do you remember the trophies for the ACS in 2008? I got 8th place in the Novice class and the trophy was 4 feet tall!

I raced moto-cross for quite a while in the seventies and eighties. Ever dust 140 trophies? Pack and transport them when you move to a new apartment?
I gave them to the local Cub Scout Troop for their Pinewood Derby races.

Got acrylic cubes as awards when racing Jet Skiis......... way cooler than trophies.

Badger State Winter Games used medals as awards (Olympic sized)

Trophies are only cool when you haven't won any yet.

It's a non-issue for me now that I race R/C.............I rarely finish well enough for an award.

Heard that...have a basement full of trophies from a boatload of pursuits...motox, carts, softball, bowling, golf, skeet, trap, sporting clays...
Quite a few hit the dumpster every spring...this year, it all goes.

My son raced the State Series thru the year and at the end of it we went to the banquet and trophy presentation which ended up being the big chrome plates with vinyl stickers. We put them in the back seat of a 4 door truck on top of what gear we had and drove away. On the first turn out we heard a bang' clang' and I said what the hell was that. He said about three thousand dollars and we laughed all the way home. We still laugh about that.

i like to know who is "Pocketing All the CASH"......!?!?!?!?!
LOL.....
man anyone kinda wonder what is up with the entree fees...LOL
makes one think....????.....40.00 kinda "If'y".....
50.00 stepping out of line....
60.00...just getting "GREEDY"
70.00 your kidding right...????
even at 40.00 if 200 racers attend....that Equals 8 Grand...plus if they get "Sponsors" to cover the events or hang a banner on a fence
they charge anywhere up to 2 grand.....!!!!!
i know 2 of the events we wanted to "Sponsor" was going to charge us 1,500 for a 3x2 banner....!?!?!?! so i can just "Only Imagine"
what the 4x6 and bigger ones got charged.....!!!!!!
so with an "Average" Proffit of some place of 20,000 for a 2 day event?
double that if only "Half" of the racers enter a SECOND Class !!!
yes, some trophys be nice for the racers...!!!!!
not like they could not Afford it.....!!!!

i can see the fees for a Motorcycle race Go-Kart stuff like that...
because of Track crew,Maintainace crews etc.
but "R/C Cars"....??????????
turn marshals "Are the Drivers"....????
the tracks "Already Have Insurances" so "Roar IS NOT NEEDED"
(Roar is another Cash Cow that needs to go like NORRCA)
keep the rules get rid of the cash cow.....!!!!!
established Business of this(r/c tracks) need to......
any Business really........
and track crews....???? "Where".....?????.....LOL

so yes, be nice to see MORE "Sportsman,Novice, and Beginners at these events get Trophies and stuff....
cause it's a SLAP in the face to many a driver show up pay up to 50.00 for a race, and not even get a Plaque or trophy of any kind..??
some places at least you get a T-Shirt,at least you get something with those types of events...so not too bad...??
can say ok 20.00 for a shirt...???
rest entry fee...??? and doesnt see too bad...
but some events...50.00 and "Nothing"...????
thats kinda "Wrong".......

there is only one track i know of in "California" that has a
"Low Entry Fee"with Big REWARDS....!!!!!
Revelation Raceway....!!!
and Honestly..?? i do not know how he does it....!!!!!
