I have been wanting to buy a Mugen MBX6 and I would like to know if an Electric will keep up with a nitro.

Oh yeah. Electric cars have crazy power and can exceed nitros top speed easily. You just have to be good enough to drive it slow enough (if that makes sense).

Bottom line is absolutely yes.

why go for the easy route?

well on a big track i think there, kind of equal electric/nitro but on a smaller tech track electric 1/8 has the advange but that depends on the driver also.

Lol.. easy route. I know what you mean as I do already have a nitro and an electric and the electric is by far easier to keep running

I don't know if I will be doing to much racing.. maybe a little. Mainly just dragging it up and down the road and bashing

Electric is faster. Don't get me wrong I prefer nitro because of the way they feel, sound and smell. When running they are just more exciting. The down side to nitro is maintenance, constant engine tunning for weather variations and dirtiness. Electric are kind of numb in terms of sensation, but when it comes to sheer speed especially the type you mention of "Mainly just dragging it up and down the road" electric have it won hands down. There is a reason why the speed world record holder for RC cars is electric.

Again I reiterate, I'm not knocking nitro as it's what I run and prefer. But if it's just speed and bashing you are after there is no comparison, the right setup electric car/buggy would put a dress on any nitro RC car and call it Nancy.

Plenty of electric buggies on youtube doing 90-100mph backed up by a radar gun. Try finding nitro buggies doing those speeds on there.
