FELLOW MUGENITES....LET ME PICK YOUR BRAINS FOR A MOMENT...
I'm racing a MBX5t (BCE chassis, big bores, MBX6t gearing, ect...) while walking by my work bench this evening, i ran my hand over one of the wheels and only 3 turned......checked the one that wasn't and the barrel inside the CVD was snapped. (hasn't happend to me EVER with ANY scale R/C, but there's a first time for everything...) no big deal, i pull the front CVD out and try to replace the broken barrel with a new one BUT (there's always gotta be a but...) the whole CVD (up to the outer axle that the hub mounts to) is SMALLER in diameter than the rear and takes a smaller barrel... was this typical?? everywhere i look for parts it shows both F/R are interchangable but for which size, the standard (bigger) size or these tiny wussy ones that are on the front of my truggy?? (the rears are the same size as a standard MBX5r a.k.a. BIGGER)
anyone have a clue on were i can find these "little barrels" at??
or if the CVD bones from the caster K8t are the "BIGGER" ones so as i can replace these tiny things with something sutable for a truggy??

just to clarify whats what, are the cvds, mugen 5T or something else?
what brand cvd barrel were you replacing it with.
as Moonie said, all mugen barrels have been the same from the mbx4 up to the mbx6 and 6T, I wonder were your old mbx4 is these days?
i have had a barrel brake and i broke one doing it up too tight but they were on the centre drive shaft cvds...nice thing with the 6 hubs and drive shafts is the pin is captured buy the inner bearing...thats what i'm running on my 5T.

Throw a set of calipers on it or a micrometer, then look it up. (or use the owners manual available via PDF) When I was driving mugen I had this happen to me. I started replacing them every 2 gallons on a truggy. They hold up to buggy but not on truggy IMO. Yes they do break and you lose just about all your power. Replace the plastic diff housing while you are at it. Chances are its prolly warped by now as well.

gimme til tomorrow and I'll tear one off Kath's and measure?

6T drive axle is the top one. Barrels are the same. 6T shaft is about 4 mm longer, both are the same diameter. The pin for the 6T barrel is about 0.5mm shorter. "Ball" diameter at the CVD is the same.
The 6T axle bearings are spaced further apart in the carrier, the 5T bearings are almost side by side. And, of course, the 6T axle bearing captures the barrel pin.

thanks alot guys....i think i got things figured out now.....i'm gonna drill the lil bones out and throw them on the back for a weekend....i figure by then i should have the RIGHT replacement parts....plus they'll most likely be wore out and/or twisted after one night of racing....
oh, and moto...i knew there was something different about you....
