Default Mbx5t big bore shocks

Just bought a 5t and some people are telling me there is a way to change the shocks to a big bore like the 6t has or the 5 buggy has. Has anyone done this and knows what I need to make this conversion?

If you go with the MBX6 big bores, you only need the complete shock sets front and rear, and the shock stand offs parts needed are :

E0536 front shockset
E0537 Rear shockset
E0548 Shock standoffs
E0556 Stock MBX6T rear springs (you could off course go for other springs)
E0559 Stock MBX6T front springs (you could off course go for other springs)

Cheaps way would go to get the parts from ebay, lots off people selling cheap mugen parts from parted out kits.

another road to look down is the oddonell big bores....i've ran them on my 5r and 5t for the past 2 years and never had a problem....they're 1/2 the price of the factory mugens and come with 3 sets of springs and all the install hardware(i.e. longer standoffs, tools, ect) just add your own fluid....

That figures I just got rid of two z01t. Had all kinds of shocks and shock parts. Even had brand new set of front and rears still in the package.

So are you saying you cant just get a set of 6 shocks and bolt them on like normal to the 5T?

You can put a 1mm washer under the 5T standoffs and they just clear the towers, when i did use the 6T standoffs i had to trim the flange at the base to fit inside the milled out section of the 5T tower.
I found the best position to run them at was middle hole at the front and 3rd from all the way layed down at the back.

get some 6T hub extenders to, and run it on the longest wheelbase setting, it make the 5T handle even closer to the 6.

6T brake pads are another good addition.

Thanks for the good advice. I picked up a set of Avid composites for the brakes. Truck stops like a ferrari with the ABS on my Eurus10. Any other setup advice you can give?

My truck has an unscratched chassis on the bottom with a brand new mill 6 tanks old under the 6 body. Sleeper? HAHA Anyways, 10-7-3 current diff fluids with nothing in the shocks yet. I am planning on getting 6 shocks for it though as I like the idea of easy adjustability. Any ideas on shock weights:?

I don't have a setup sheet for my 5.6T i can give you some basic settings.

ride height: arms level at the back from slightly lower in the front, just off full droop.

std anti roll bar from the 5T

shock oil for spring/summer temps 500 mugen oil Front and Rear std 6T springs.

diffs: 8 8 4 mugen oil

front arm upper and lower all the way forward, front hole on the ackerman...2 degrees toe out and 2 camber

rear upper links: middle inside, outer hole on the hub and lower hole in the arm,
3 toe 0 degree block and middle hole insert for front of rear arms., 3 degrees camber.

also running the 5T plastic braces with the BCE chassis.
