It means your High Speed Needle is set to rich causing the motor to not burn all the fuel the carb is dumping into the motor...Lean your high speed an hour at a time until it doesnt sound like its blubbering down the straight a way...

It means your high speed needle is set too rich. The engine cannot reach max rpm, it will smoke a lot and have poor performance.

this is a tune issue, if your engine is not tuned correctly most likley your high set needle therefore its not up to temperature then you will have excess fuel in your engine the characteristics is your engine will cough and carry on running terrible therefore the term not clearing out down the straight is used, get your tune sorted out with your HSN and this will not be an issue.
goodluck

Thanks guys.. I read this in one of the tuning posts. The next thing the guy said is to lean out your HSN until your car is just barely clearing out the straightaway.

So I guess it means right at the end of the starightaway your car would hit its max rpm??

Its too fat. Meaning engine is not reaching top speed because tune is off. Just lean top end hour at a time to where u get a nice thin line of smoke.
