How to remove a stripped hex screw?

I have a 2.5mm hex screw jammed into my chassis. I don't have a drill to drill out.

What else can I do? Thx guys!

use a dremel w/ a cutting wheel and cut a straight groove. then use a straight screwdriver

Sounds good, but is there anyway I can charge my dremel with a regular charger? I misplace my dremel charger:(

Take a soldering iron and heat the screw up with the tip. Use a standard not metric quality hex wrench the next size up from 2.5mm.. It's going to be just a bit bigger and might bite into the screw enough to twist it out.

That or you can use a cutting wheel in a standard drill to cut a slot. It's going to take a while and the slot might get wider then you expected but it works.

I had to do this twice two days ago. On one I cut the slot but I botched it up and the slot got to wide. So I took the dremel grinder and ground the entire head off. This let me "pull "piece one off of peice two.
On my second attempt I ground a perfect slot for a screw driver.
Good Luck

Go to sears and grab an easy out set. You drill the head with one side of the bit and then flip the bit and unscrew the head. Works nearly every time.

Yes thats ok. Most of,my stripped screws are on the sterring posts. You are only using the special bit to bore a hole so that the other side of,the bit can grab on. It comes with detaailed instructions on how to use. You will need cordless drill or a power driver.

Forget the screw and try turning the post. Or hold your allen key on an angle while turning the screw. Few different things to try.

It can be done if your charger has a li-ion setting. I've had to do it a couple of times traveling o/s with my race gear.

As has been suggested use the dermal cutting wheel and cut a wide slot for a nice big flathead screwdriver. You will the be able to use the screwdriver to crack e screw and remove it.

Works every time....

If you have the thicker cutting wheel with the ez-clip I find that it can be a lot better and safer (does not shatter) than the screw on wheels. I have been able to use the thicker wheel on 4-40 size screws with no issue. Same as 3mm

I've read that you can epoxy the allen key in the screw. Never tried it but it an option.
