i have a set of flourescent yellow rolux wheels i'd like to dye black. i'm wondering if it's possible to dye them black being that they are already yellow? has anyone tried this with any success? thanks in advance.

Never tried it.

Have been dying my rims since the mid 80's. From what i was first told you can only dye white parts. I don't think you will do much with colored parts.

Try with a old wheel first. All i think you will do is change the color a little.

It works quite well. I actually think the yellow wheels turn out better than white ones. Id show u pics but I'm at work and don't have any with me. Just make sure the dye/water is very hot, I boil the water in a microwave first, then add the dye.

Is it possable to dye just the spokes of the Rulux rims?
I too have Yellow Rulux and would like to color just the spokes black, keeping the rim edge yellow, is this posable?

Black rit dye will dye yellow wheels. Takes a while and your pot of water has to be heated.

The dye won't go deep. Just sand the wheel where you want yellow with a dremel.

Sounds like too much work to me.

As long as your target color is darker than your current color....you can dye any color. Not just white. Pretty cool way to customize wheels too!

Long ago, I tried dyeing rims. They looked good when they were new, until they were run a few times. The scratches were quite noticible because the white of the rims showing through the color.
