I just got an H6040 Spektrum servo for my 1/8 Ofna DM-1 onroader for gas/brakes. It's identical to the Savox 1258. Apparently Savox builds the servos for Spektrum. I.e. the Spektrums are rebranded Savoxes... Etc..

Anyway, the 6040 has two versions - the H6040 and the S6040. Is there a difference?

These servos - H6040, S6040, and Savox 1258 have 12 kilos and .08 sec @6V. But on amain it says under the S6040 that it shouldn't be used for 1/8 offroad. Why?

Just mounted mine up. It is wickedly fast...

ps Here in Germany the Spektrum is 5 bucks cheaper than the Savox...

pps I voted Hitec. My 5955's have been indestructible.

Default servo's

just my experience
I have only ran a few brands of servos(jr, ace, airtronics and hitec. The ace servos were fast and smooth, worked well for the money but just did not last. I was replacing gears constantly and the top case cover around the brass bushing. I had good luck with some of the JR servo's. The DS 8711 was bullet proof for me, I ran it in 2 truggy's and a buggy and was still working when I took it out. I only had 1 problem with the 9100T, but the 9100s's were a constant problem. Same problem as the ACE, gears or top case cover. Jr's service treated me well it's just a hassle and a big bummer when your 3 hrs from home racing and it fails.
Airtronics servos seemed to be smooth and fast but honestly I didn't give them much of a chance before installing Hitec 7955's in all my rigs. I been running the 7955's and controlling them with the M11X. It has been almost a year now and I have not had 1 single problem. The 7955 is smooth, fast, strong and thus far very reliable. Although I have not had to use Hitec's service I hear it's great.
Hitec took my vote.

I went with Hitec: When I got into SC racing about a year ago I looked for an affordable servo under $50.00 that had decent torque rating and I found the Hitec HS-645mg and it has been doing it's job ever since without any issues. Recently I purchased a used Losi 8-t and it came with Hitec 7955tg the torque and speed ratings are monsterous, but more importantly it performs flawlessly without any issues.

Default Advice

For the moment I am going to run in my Losi 2.0 the JR9100s for my throttle and the Savox 1256tg for my steering. And I have been told once but want to verify.

Can I run Lipo reciever pack or must I run Nicad because servo's dont say High Voltage? confused

After 4 seasons with truggy and 1 1/2 with buggy, only 2 gearsets worn out with futaba 351's. Never an electrical problem either. Actually 1 guy (not me) knocked the gearsets out, lol. Now i use the S9157 for truggy steering. Great servos.

I dont know about the JR but the Savox 1256tg is not a high voltage servo. I have read that some have run them on LiPo but I would be hesitant to do so. I am using a LiFe battery with mine.

Ive been running the same pair of Hitec 5955 servos on straight lipo since fall 2008. Ive got 2 7955s too but dont have a use for them currently because the 5955s are still perfect.

Thanks for your help! I have been racing for over 10 years and had never heard of Cobra Racing. Hopefully they send a sticker or two!
