K guys, right now I"m running a totally stock RTR RC8T

Ive only raced it twice and came in 2nd each time. I've noticed it seems my Revo actually turns better/sharper then the associated.

What should be upgraded to make this thing really race ready.

Should I change steering servos to see if I can't get this thing to turn sharper? Maybe change the steering arm or put some super strong servo in? Maybe change the pipe to get some low end? I'm new to racing and not sure what needs to be done

Also after each race I always have to tighten my servo saver and its always 3 or 4 turns loose, what would cause that?

for the steering servo hitec 7955 & it comes w/ a (long,thick )servo horn that you can use it for more steering throw ,use blue loctite on the servo saver , all metal contact use blue loctite..........if you change the stock .28 motor it will be great

7955 is a little weak for it, i have it in my steering, and i wish i had alot more torque.

and what servo would you go with beginner?

And did you just leave the throttle servo alone or change it up as well?

+1 on the 7995. As far as not being strong enough, you must be trying to turn army tank. The Hitec TG servos are by far the best jmho... My JR 9100's have developed tons of play and they are about a year newer. The Hitecs are indestructable.

if your on the budget you can start from the nova. 21 bf & you match it w/ 086 pipe (total less than $210) ,but if you got the $$$ i would say mugen jx21 or the vspec 21 both can use the os 2050 pipe, hitec servos for me 4 yrs of racing i have 0 issue & customer service are great as well ........you can try hitec 7985 th/brke, 7955 strnng hope it helps...............i understand that you r beginner ,the reason i mention the "budget thing" cause why spend on the cheaper parts/item etc. while you can afford to buy a better quality one & good warranty

We've got a new racer at our track that just picked up a new RC8T RS.It seems to turn and handle our track pretty well but it deffinately needs a better pipe.The stock one looks so tiny..specially for a .28
If there's nothing wrong with the stock motor..why change it?Personally I'd just get a good pipe for now...then again my r/c budget is pretty small right now

Will you must have something setup wrong, that servo should be plenty for any truggy. Grab me next time we're up at NRC and I'll have a look for you.

You just need to play with your setup as far as the steering goes. The stock diff setups are 7k-f/7k-c/7k-r, this creates a terrible on-power push that drove me nuts! Try something like 7/7/5 or 5/7/3, something along those lines. Also, try adding a little bit of toe-out on the front tires, that helped me alot. It's all in the setup.

also right now i'm just running the AA battery pack.

Would running a lipo help out as far as power of the servos?

- Run more toe-out in front.
- More caster in front
- 3k diff oil in the rear (so you run 7/7/3, which is IMO great)

Change your pipe (I don't know the engine, I have a RC8T FT) to a better one as mentioned above. You can also use a longer servo horn and cut a little bit of your caster blocks in front so your servo can 'throw' more.

LiPo is really great but a expensive investment. I run LiPo's during summer and Nimh during the winter (LiPo's dont like cold weather ) and can run with one package a whole day.

justint22, i hav been using the 2700 ballistic batt.,so far no problem i visit the track once a week & i can run all day long ,during race day 2 (5 mins. heat) ,main 7 mins. i dont even need to bother the charger lol .............. its up to you if you want to go lipo route

Id change the tire set up before i go buy another servo. or the suspension set up my rc8t pushed in the corners i changed the front hingepin and kick up bushings to 2up 2up and 1 in the front.
i used 7k 10k and 7k with 45 wt shock oil. and this helped alot!!
our track is med traction and loamy and huge!!!
if that dont help just keep messing with the diff oils.
