Kyosho to release MP9 Pattaya Edition
Kyosho have announced that they will be releasing a 'Pattaya Worlds Edition' of their MP9 TKI2 buggy. Details are pretty thin but it appears it will have a few special features seen on Cody King's winning car. The list price for the unassembled kit is (Japanese Yen) ¥92,400, roughly $1,120 USD, the 'Spec A' kit is only slightly more expensive (as its hand built and checked by Yuuichi Kanai) at ¥96,600 = $1,170 USD. Kyosho America's list price for the current MP9 TKI2 is $1,549.99, whilst in online stores its priced between $850-$900. The image below points to 4 features of the 'Pattaya Edition' - the forward-mounted battery mod, rear shock tower, then its a bit of guess work since the image ain't great... perhaps the front lower block beefed up for the Worlds, lastly it might be the front shock tower? In time we'll know more. The Worlds win kicked off a surge of interest in Kyosho's MP9 buggy, pricing has always been a major factor and in some market e.g. US they are less competitive but Cody's win and Tebo's TQ appears to have helped. The rumour mill suggests we might see something special coming from Team Orion as well - perhaps to coincide with the release of the 'Pattaya Edition'.
Update: Our in-house translator arrived by courier and helped us with the translation - he tells us that the features are carbon fibre battery holder, front shock tower, rear shock tower and a strengthened front lower arm suspension block.

I would be really surprised if what they say about pricing above holds true. If they could this buggy 200 dollars cheaper then the current tki2 it would be a sure hitter for kyosho. Im glad i didnt buy my tki2 last week because maybe this will be cheaper. not keeping my fingers crossed though

I almost garentee if tebo would have won it would have been the tebo edition!

It would be wrong to call it the cody king edition since it's Kanai's car and Jared's battery mod...
Cody was basicaly using jared's set up... so Pattaya or WC edition is a fair compromise IMO.

American Racer's names might not carry much marketing clout in Asia, WC or otherwise. It's a way to call out the car as World Champion without naming a foreign racer.
I'd believe this release when Kyosho does it with the same quality they do other things. That poster could've been done by a 4th grader.
