i have used 2.5mm carbon fibre. under the servos and where the battery sits i have milled it down to 1.5mm
if you look at the attached pictures the throttle sevro now has about 3mm between the plate and the servo using the 1mm shims under the mounting blocks that come with the car. it also leaves room on top of the servos under the receiver box. i had origionaly tried to just shime the servo up higher but it takes away the gap above the servo restricting air flow over the top side.
the steering servo has about 1.5mm of space without any shims under the mounting blocks
i still have plenty of clearance between the driveshafts and battery but it is harder to get the tray in and out over the stock plate.
i also cut a heat sink into the side of the engine mount to try and cool the chassis a little more

i also lightened the f/c/r spur gears aswell
Great CF work! Let us know how it will work out - in case you'll be happy with it, would you consider planning to run a small batch for people interested in getting one?

whats wrong with them using ramps?? are you saying that they are to good for ramps??
The ramps are ok i guess, but the top guys are so busy they pick and choose the events they want to attend. Plus i'm sure the people who write the checks make a list of the races that pay bonus's for wins..

Wouldn't an aluminum radio tray be better than carbon for dissipating heat?

I've got a build question for ya guys...a buddy of mine is building his new DNX408 and mine shipped yesterday Anyway he ran into a snag on the center diff...if he tightens it down it isn't smooth like the front and rear diffs...but if he loosens it up until it is smooth then it leaks. At least that's what it sounded like when he was trying to explain it to me. When mine comes in I'll see if I have the same issue but was wondering if you guys had seen this as well...Is it an issue or does the diff just need some break in time?
