Winter Tires

I did a search and didnt come up with anything. Can someone fill me in on the (Clay) compound like with proline its called MC heres a link> http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Buggy-Tires-2
JC calls it "gold" http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Insert-Gold-2
and I dont see anything from AKA for Clay specific. Is the MC or Gold softer than the M3 (proline) or Green (JC) or is it harder? I have some gold 7's that I think are super hard.

Thanks.

Good question Frank,

I'm not sure what has been done for the "Clay" compound tires these days. I think the idea for the Losi Pink compound back in the day was to have the traction of a Red compound and the wear rate of a Silver compound. It's old info for sure and like I said, I don't know what has been done since then.

I do know why you are asking, and for where you will be running this winter, I'd go with the softest coumpound you can get. More for the cold temps. than track. I think I ran softs the last time I ran down there and they seemed to do fine. Any harder tire than a soft and I was skating on the track.

PW should be able to give you a detailed explanation....I'm not familiar with the Clay Compounds as we have never had any real clay locally till Just recent...and we got LOTS of it. ;)

PS hope none of the locals see this :sneaky:

This is the base and we got 30 more trucks of 100% Pure Clay coming over today/tomorrow and the bobcat's going to work tomorrow morning to get the rough layout started.

Ya temps are dropping fast....No serious snow Yet......But its in the forecast for the next couple days so Thankfully we have a Real Fast operator so we should be able to square away what we need to tomorrow and into Saturday worst case. You have snow already don't you ?

Clay compounds are a bit strange. They aren't as soft as something like a super soft compound, but aren't the same as a soft compound. They work really well on clay! I don't believe AKA has a clay compound. PL is MC, JC is Gold, Panther is Clay, Losi is Pink. If you're running on a tacky clay track, there's no substitution for a good clay compound and some traction additive.;)
