Fastest RTR YOU CAN BUY...?

Hello everyone,
Was contemplating putting a kit together or just buying a RTR... I know ultimately a kit with a modied engine would be faster but is there a RTR kit that you know that is screaming fast right out of the box... OFNA Jammin X1x Sport 1/8 Off Road 4WD RTR Buggy IS one suggested to me so far. Please let me know if you have any other routes. Thank you in advance...

alot of people have never tryed this. but the tamiya tnx 5.2r is probably the fastest off-road vehicle thats RTR. gps + speed gun both got 117kmph. use a calc to convert

secretsg 11-08-2010 11:13 PM

I can confirm this as I do own the TNX. In fact it topped out at 300km/h with me in Japan. :spidey:

... on the Nozomi express....

Looking for a buggy not truck might consider truggy's

Roelof 11-09-2010 02:33 AM

Schumacher has a 1/10 truck with a 3.5cc engine and 3 speed gearbox

Nesal 11-09-2010 03:45 AM

For that get a Hyper7 and put a better engine in, gear it for speed and done!

The Working Man 11-09-2010 04:19 AM

Are we talking all out speed or race worthty? The outlaw, back street, for big money guys around here run hyper 7s with .32s and tall gears. They lock the center diffs and let 'em rip. The only one that hits curbs and still keeps going. One guy has a 1/5 scale, chain saw motor, if he doesn't rip tires off, is in the money. Great fun to see.

trx-1racer 11-09-2010 05:01 AM

Track worthy? Losi 8ight 2.0...

Goomba_7 11-09-2010 07:14 AM

I probably wouldn't say RTR at all. I haven't seen an RTR engine that can hold a candle to a full race engine. But if all your looking to do if fast runs in a straight line then I suggest buying whatever rtr you want. Swiss cheese the hell out of the chassis, remove all unnessacary screws and parts. Gear it to the moon. And don't run into any curbs.

If you want fast and reliable and something to bash then buy something you can get parts for. Fast is relative.

I have seen Losi 8 2.0 RTR with upgraded servos and turbo button, run with pack with stock engine. He went through the whole season on the same engine, and it was PLENTY for a race track....

Now you say, fasted RTR.... Are you planning to race? If you are planning to race, fastest car do not win races... Over power is actually bad... You burn through clutches and tires way to fast. This is my opinion.

emin007 11-09-2010 09:37 AM

fastest rtr

No I'm not going to be racing just for straight away runs top speed

token 11-09-2010 10:12 AM

Traxxas Jato sounds perfect.... Its fast as hell and goes straight.

I have to. And he managed to start in the #6 or #7 spot in the Canadian Nationals A-main last year. The motor had plenty of power for him, it was the run time that may of held him back a bit compared to the highier dollar motors. I don't think he was running the upgraded head button though, but he was running a Losi RE-10 pipe.

Lapper 11-09-2010 11:40 AM

I would grab a Losi Speed NT or Speed T before I grabbed a Traxxas anything.... JMO.:tire::tire:
Both of these make better on road vehicles than off road but....

Doesn't sound very fun to me, heh. Guess it takes abit more to keep me entertained ;)

Jaz240 11-09-2010 12:57 PM

Straight away runs top speed you want to buy electric. With a brushless motor and ballistic lipos and heavy gearing you can get an electric car up to 100 MPH. Cannot even come close with a glow engine

On the backseat of his Ferrari ;)

Illbreakthat 11-09-2010 04:54 PM

Being this is in the Nitro forum the fastest I have seen would be the Schumacher Menace .21 in third gear wide open its 80MPH.

For the electric guys there is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLOGAvhyJ84

emin007 11-09-2010 05:56 PM

is this the best rtr set????

Losi’s 1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 Ready-To-Run Nitro Buggy... Hey guys back on topic does this look like the top contender??? It doesn't look like the fastest out of the bunch but it does have the best of the best! Please advise if you have any input... It's either this kit or going with MUGEN MBX6 Buggy with a Go GX7R engine. I know they are world apart in final OTD price but is the difference worth paying and going with top components and the

Mugen MBX6 kit. $549
Futaba 3PMX or Spektrum DXS-2 telemetery radio $200
Mugen starter box $140
Go GXR7R $240 WITH Tuned pipe and header
Hitech servos $150 for set of 2
SO TOTAL IS ABOUT $1250!!!

LOSI 8IGHT 2.0 RTR $699 OTD TURN KEY BUT A LITTLE SLOWER...
PLEASE HELP ME!!! LOL

Lapper 11-09-2010 06:05 PM

The LOSI 8ight 2.0 RTR comes with a starter box and DX3S. With the LOSI motors you can add a turbo head button and RE-11 pipe for $95. Complete kit with head button and pipe is under $800. The 8ight T 2.0 comes with a .28 and is more durable. Ever consider an OFNA DM-1? It's a 1/8 scale on road with a two speed and a .28.

emin007 11-09-2010 06:15 PM

TRUGGY OR BUGGY

Funny you should mention the truggy I just found out they have a truggy and that it does have a bigger engine... Can you pm me on the turbo upgrade and if it is available on the truggy. So stupid question but the truggy should be faster on straight runs? right? lol thanks alot

emin007 11-09-2010 06:17 PM

TRUGGY OR BUGGY

And as to the on road I have a brand new Mugen MRX4-X with a OS .21XZ-R engine that does 45,000rpm... Should be a screamer!

What video is needed? I bought it at the Shizuoka hobby show and took the train back. Nozomi express = express bullet train service. I guess people are too busy writing sponsorship on signatures to read on here.

stability of truggy vs buggy

Hey how much of stability difference is there between the buggy and truggy??? if you have any experience please advise. I'm only going to be bashing and having my Jack Russel chase it down so jumps and sharp angle turns are not an issue...

Truggy is a LOT more stable. And the Losi is the best "package deal" available.

Thanks DOMIT!!! I think the losi truggy rtr it is!!!

Jaz240 11-09-2010 08:09 PM

How did you go from the fastest RTR nitro on the market to a losi truggy? The losi truggy is not even close to the fastest RTR car on the market. That title would have to go to Traxxas and Schumacher although both are useless for anything other than speed. Sure would be fun watching your dog trying to keep up with either of them though.

emin007 11-09-2010 10:28 PM

fastest RTR buggy

Its funny people suggest Manufacturers without specific vehicles... ??? If I knew a specific Traxxas or Schu I would mention it

Lapper 11-10-2010 06:39 AM

Not only is this the OFF Road thread... but he stated he wanted something fast, off road, stable, durable, best starter package, and was leaning toward the LOSI RTR buggy. The buggy is a great vehicle but a lil twitchy. I would never push anyone to get a Traxxas vehicle, especially with the package Losi offers. Do the math. With roller $700, Spectrum DX3S Tx/Rx $250, Motor/pipe @ $200, servos $100, AND starter box @ $100, don't forget the Rx battery $30. Thats $1380. When you get it all for $800 it's a pretty good deal. Granted you will want to upgrade it later it's a great deal and is definately a screamer. JMO... not THE definative answer...lol. :D

Jaz240 11-10-2010 07:49 AM

I agree that the best off road RTR package is either the losi 2.0 buggy or truggy. For racing or bashing you won't get better. The point I was trying to make is that his OP asked for the fastest RTR nitro off road package and that would be Traxxas Jato, or Schumacher Menace. So I guess we have gone away from fastest to most practical. I would not recommend traxxas or Schumacher to anyone over the Losi 2.0 but that wasn't the question. The question was fastest and that's why I was wondering how he ended up with a losi truggy. Not that it's a bad choice at all.

ya thats about the only thing it does:lol::D

emin007 11-10-2010 08:06 PM

Thanks guys. Yes the Jato was just sold because of the 2WD and lack of traction... That's what I'm leading towards losi buggy or truggy rtr... If you have any suggestions on a faster rtr please advise.
