yeah it's a pain....
I usually get a dremel with a thin disc and make a slot in the head of the screw.. Then use a normal flat screw driver to un screw it..
Can also use:

Made for the job, but I haven't had much luck with them.

so you drill it out and then use a flathead to remove it?

heres a quick trick that might work
take some aluminum foil and put it over your hex wrench
it'll fill the space and should hopefully get the screw out

You can put them on a drill however a drill doesnt really spin fast enough to get it done rite. They are for a dremel tool.
If you dont have one i would recommend one, very handy when you need it. Probly thousands of little bits you can get for it. A decent dremel will run at least $40 and up. And these bits you can find in attachment kits, or seperately for usually $10 or less.
Im sure prices vary...
Some/most? dremels these days come with a small attachment kit usually including some of these. Can usually find them in a hardware store or walmart.

Or you can use a left handed drill bit, just remember run the drill in reverse.
