Werks B5 or Novarossi S21P5XLT?
 

When the time comes for me to get a new racing engine, which do you think it better on the track? Might be put into a serpent s811 or an xray 808 if i get one, but will be in my inferno for now.

Well its hard to say whats better for you.....as we all want different things from our engines.... What criteria do you want compared ? power, smoothness, ease of use, longevity, mileage, peak RPM....

myself I am a performance first kind of guy, I like engines with lots of balls and a screaming top end....

i would recommend getting the b6 for buggy, it will be smoother and get better fuel economy

Both motors are great, I have not personally owned a b5 but I have driven them. I do however own the P5.

The p5 is a very smooth motor and has great run time, I would say smoother then the b5.

The b5 has a gob of low end (so does the p5) and not nearly as well on gas. (b6 is much better). Great power but not as smooth as the p5.

You cannot make a wrong choice either way, I personally run p5's in truggy and absolutly love the motor.

B5 gets better mileage...no question there !

Coming from and O.S. to a werks B5 and also a werks B7...

After learning how to tune the B5 and B7 which is easy. I have to say the B5 has low end for days and the B7 is a very smooth and powerful motor.

It really depends on your driving style. Like Tebo was asked why do you run the motors you run? They don't get good Fuel mileage. He said I like the way it runs and plus I am hard on the trigger. So Its really more of along the lines of what you want out of your motor.

I had GRP before the O.S. (V-Spec and Speed).

The Pipe you use really sets the point of how the motor will do. Throw that into the mix as well...

The debate rages on. I've never used a b5, but the P5 is my favorite, and is arguably the most famous off road engine in the last 10 years.

The Houston tuned p5 has just been broken in and it is really nice, and the stock p5 is no slouch on the track....

and the B5 seems to be really popular these days, and has lots of great reviews from expert racers.

The guy you responded to was saying the B6 will be smoother and better fuel mileage than the B5 not the P5.

I run the B5 and B6 in my buggy. Personally I like the B6 way better in it. Plenty of power for me for any jump or situation. Never have ran a nova engine though so I can't comment on that. But I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with either of the Werks engines!

I have a p5sx hott mod with a 9886 pipe and long round header and it runs awsome and gets over 10 mins a tank easy.I do know tuning a p5 is SET IT AND FORGET IT! After mine dropped its nuts and got a good tune I have never had to touch the needles again.It screams from bottom to top running at 180f all day long,hell I meen all year long lol!! I have never run werks engines but honestly as long as nova makes a p5 I will never even look at another engine!! Now if nova stops making the p5 then yea it probly would be WERKS for me just because of the top notch customer service they provide. Realy you cant go wrong either way.Good luck.

He's got a point , I have seen those engines run , they perform VERY well , cheap yes , good performance yes , cheap qwuality yes .

As with most low dollar engines , they are a crapshoot , maybe a good one , maybe not .

Just my observation of the industry , take it for what its worth

The engines listed are both great options but why would you not consider the plus 21-4 buggy tuned for a buggy? You will be amazed :nod:

P5xlt is a top line motor any many people don't give it the credit it should have. It may be a little older of a design but it has been perfected over a few models. The p5 is also very capable of 10 minute pits with an 086 or associated 2035 pipe. Not saying the b5 is junk I am just saying the P5 is a great motor and has served me well in my buggy and truggy this year for like 4 gallons so far and I am impressed with it in both.
