I am getting ready to do my first shock rebuild on my Mugen MBX6T and want to know what shock oil people recommend. Is the Mugen oil top notch stuff or would you recommend something else like Losi or AE?

I did notice that Losi (for example) uses a different numbering system than Mugen.

here is the conversion chart if you want to try different oils.

i prefer AE or Losi oil but mugen oil is good oil also.

Is the Mugen oil measured in CTS? It's not listed on the chart.

vppro shock oils. some of the cheapest and best. vppro is like the hudy of shock oils, wings etc

yes, its the same as HotBodies oil, mugen oil just seems to last a little longer than HB oil.

7.5wt is like water.
how you drill your own pistons?
do you close holes with ca maybe?

Why do people always have their little tricks? Look in your manual and put the shock oil that it recomends. See what your truggy is doing on the track or have a buddy watch it and make changes as needed at the track. Do not put anything but shock oil in your shocks.

you can find silicon fluid 22$ for 2 lbs.in 50wt.

No one said you could not run that. But, let's see some of your race results. How does it help you over using regular shock oil? Does it help you win?

i basically think the oil are just substitute.

i don't think there's is a significant big different. using mugen, associated, xray, kyosho or any other manufacturer.

due to availability and have use 3 different manufacturer at one time in my car when i race. well, it's about the same really when i look at the time sheets.

it will not make a big jump in your results if you use this oil or that oil.

I use a lathe to make my pistons out of Teflon. I find plastic has to much stick-tion. 7.5wt oil maybe like water but its all in how you control the flow. By adding a shim stack that controls low speed & high speed compression along with rebound.
