Default Mud Guards? Yes or No

So do you race with mud guards on yes or no? If not why? If so why? I noticed them on my buggy but i am waiting for a set to put on my truggy and wonder if it'll affect handling, jumping or nothing at all.

recently a couple of my friends took them off saying that they cause too much drag. I like them, they help protect rubber shock boots, rear hub bearings etc. I don’t plan on taking them off anytime soon

So you guys race with them on? I was thinking, i've been running them on my buggy and mud tends to stick to them. If this is the case, how much weight does that add and how much of that dirt would have never even stuck to the a-arms, shocks, etc and just passed through and on to the buggy behind me?

Are you talking about the mud guards on the chassis or the rear a arms? For the chassis mud guards, I know of some pros that take them off to reduce weight.

lol it isnt, onroad racing yes you should run the mud guards and side guards inless you want rocks jamming the drivetrain up.

chassis mud gaurds are the black plastic pieces that run on both sides of the chassis i think all buggies and truggies have them..

I look at them the same as rear wheel scrapers.........if track is wet, run them......they take one minute to take off/put on................it's all personal preference though.

Those black plastic guards that run along side of your chassis are called stone guards, not mud guards. The primary purpose is to help prevent rocks from getting flung off your tires and onto your chassis, which will cause major problems if it finds its way to your gear mesh or linkage. naturally they also help keep mud off your chassis also.
