Engine Temp

Ok so When i Run my engine it usually rind around 240- 250 when my alarm starts to go off on my SPEKTRUM Dx3S. What should my temp be around? Can it run hotter that 270? How do i cut down on my temperature?

If you can answer all 3 of these questions it would be much appreciated

also i have a Losi 8ight 2.0 buggy

it would help if we knew what engine you had...

but i highly suggest taking that engine temp thing off, its not accurate at all. My Alpha engine runs at 280-300 almost always.

Motor temps can run anywhere from 200 to 280 there is no set temp, tune for best power and as long as u have visible smoke you are good. Trying to hit a certain temp will only set you up for failure.

those usually run around 250ish. but like the other guy said do not tune by temp. i dont even use a temp gun on my engine anymore... it was making it run worse. disconnect the temp reading thing and throw it away. its not accurate anyways. (not trying to sound like a butt, but just something ive learned.)

No magic temp . but when it gets 300 or above i start to worry . Yours is at 270 so should be o.k. As wide open said the best method is to tune by smoke & performance , then ck temp. & make sure it isn't critical .

ok well basically if you can tell me hot to get a fast buggy that can ge tup hills easily and doesnt overheat after 20 mins of racing (overheat as in over 300) i would be great

Unfortunately, no one can tell you how to tune. You need to be able to tell what your engine is doing...and listen to how it sounds to really tune an engine. Temp is a guide....so is smoke....but your ear and your throttle finger will be the best 2 tuning aids ;-)

You're best bet is go out and drive with someone skilled in nitro tuning and have them help you. Tuning sucks at first, but you WILL get better at it. It just takes time...

+ 1 I would also like to add that there is only so much performance you can get from the losi 350 engine . It is a good little sport engine but won't be as fast as the high end race engines . Just don't run it too hot trying to get more performance than it will give you . Good luck

Nah the Losi 350 is quite a capable engine. It's not going to make you a super fast racer. Driving skill does that. If you handed Adam Drake a Losi 350 to run...he would still wipe the floor with you. It's not a rocket ship, it's just a basic starter engine. It will get you racing at a decent pace while you hone your skills....
